Better safe than sorry. Some will say no but I believe most will say yes. I had the same truck, same bed. I bought a slider and didn't regret one penny of the money spent.

Depends on which hitch you are looking at. If you are using an Andersen ultimate, there is no reasonable way that you could hit the cab with a fixed hitch. It would be a judgment call on the rest. The nose on the newer Jayco's are designed to give some relief and allow a short bed to tow without a slider. But to say that it is impossible to have contact under all conditions would untrue.
Agree with M109, better safe than sorry. I haven't needed my slider yet, but there were a couple of instances that I was very close to making contact. I'm running a Reese Pro-Series 20K.

I have the companion slider. Like everyone else says I thought it best to play it safe than risk damage somewhere down the line. I haven't had to use it YET, but I'm sure a time will come. I love mine...it's a heavy SOB tho!
