Squeakin & Creakin'
We just bought/brought our 2012 26RLS home this past weekend. While out practicing backing up and turning into some tight spaces at the local stadium parking lot, the DW noticed alot of creaking and squeaking coming from various spots. We switched places, to where I was able to be a spotter and listen out.
I hopped in the bed of the truck and noticed that the majority of the loud squeaking was coming from the hitch area. Other posts on here mention that some creaking from WD hitches are fairly common and recommended a lubricant on the ball and the moving parts....
Is there a lubricant that is better than others, or will regular WD40 do?
Thanks!

It is most likely the spring bars. I disconnect them when turning and backing into a site.

White spray grease may help.
I dont think WD-40 would do much or last very long.

If you are using a sway control device, take that off as well prior to backing into your site. They along with the spring bars WILL make a lot of noise.

I found vaseline works best on our setup. Just make sure you bring rags or paper towels to wipe them off with when you get to the CG.

I've learned to take my sway bar off before backing in. Not only did it squeak and bang, but it also bent a hitch pin when I went in at a hard angle.

I put white lithium grease on hitch and spring bar ends. If you have a sway control, don't grease that. I had the same problem and it drove me crazy, no more noise now!

X2 on the "don't grease your anti-sway bar. It works on friction, which is sometimes noisy, but necessary and normal. Grease will not allow it to do its job.

Are there also points where I can use the white lithium grease on the chassis? There seems to be some squeakin & creakin under there as well.

The noise under the trailer would be the springs, shackles and tires complaining about the sharp turns. They all do it.

Something my brother got me hooked on is dry graphite spray lubricant. LOVE IT. Not as messy as vasoline and works great.
