Does anyone have, or know someone who has, a Suburban that has the Duramax conversion? Duramax Suburbans Suburban Home Page I would be interested in any feedback.

Found the right sub-forum from your link. It is titled "Frankenstein", seems appropriate.

Thanks,

Back in about 2008, a friend who had an almost-new Suburban was interested in the rumors that the Duramax would propagate to that platform. So, while he was at the LA Auto Show that year, he tracked down one of the GM Truck and Bus Engineering gurus who was at the show. Guy told him that wouldn't happen, because the Suburban had a chassis that was not wide enough to accept the Duramax or the Allison trans. I was surprised to hear that the chassis between the pickup line and the Suburban line had a different chassis. This has got to be a big part of the mods that are done for these conversions.

That would definitely explain the high cost of the conversion.
