Suggest a truck
My father is getting a new job towing TTs and 5'ers all around the country, and needs to buy a new TV. He's never needed such a big truck any suggestions? Keep in mind he needs comfort and the ability to tow both TTs and 5'ers. Gas, or Diesel? Dually ,or not? So many considerations what do think?

Diesel and Dually. If he wants comfort, a top of the line model well optioned would be in order.

Diesel and dually. I'm partial to my cummins, but you cant go wrong with either of the big three.

If he's doing it for a living, he'll want a dually diesel. The comfort level, power, and stability while towing will be top notch, no matter which of the big three he chooses.

If he's hauling trailers for a living, he should seriously consider a Medium Duty Truck, something like a Freightliner M2 106. Even better, a Heavy Duty Truck like the Freightliner SportChassis.
He could get by with a 1 ton dually from GM, Ford or Dodge, but the heavier trucks are more suited for the job and MUCH more comfortable on long hauls.

Don't just buy any medium duty truck though. You have to investigate. When I was shopping for a truck to tow with, many of the medium duty trucks I found had less towing capacity than my Chevy 2500 has. Was very disappointing.

Dodge, dually, diesel! I'm sure the other 2 are good too, but I love my Dodge. Get the Laramie for all the comfort you want and need. Jump up to the Laramie longhorn if you want to be truly impressed. I have the High Output motor but travelling across the country, the fuel savings would be much more beneficial with the standard 650 ft lbs of torque (which has plenty of power).

I'm partial to the Duramax, but like everyone else has said a 1 ton dually diesel. I drive through Elkhart several times a year and all the haulers drive duallys, you can tell by the DOT numbers on the side of the trucks.

Once again, if doing it for a living he will need a dually with a diesel engine. All of the big three are good trucks. Medium duty trucks will most likely consume more fuel both towing and running empty. People making a living doing this would be best served with a 4x4 because the factorys don't wait for sunshine to send the trailers out.
With a little searching you could probably find a forum similar to this one dealing with "hot shot" trucking.

Diesel dually but DONT get the crew cab... it will not make him any money and just cost in extra fuel... get the cab+ so he has somewhere to toss his "Stuff"

That's a good point We looked into a crew cab. So I showed my father the forum and all the responses and he was pretty impressed. It's also because of this forum he now has a surge protector on his permanent TT. So from him to you Thank you. Any other tips tricks hints for big rig TV would be appreciated.

F 450 too much or good for pro. Found a super nice Lariat, fully loaded and has fifth wheel and all you need.
