I like mine when I'm towing my TT. When I'm not, not so much. Timbrens are simple and effective. They advertise that they are sized so there is some space for the leaf springs to work as normal when not towing. I believe my leaf springs sag a little so the Timbren engages with the suspension immediately causing a really rough ride in the rear. If I re-arched my springs I'm sure it would work better.

They are great when towing, I had them on my 2008 GMC 1500. The problem is that there is only about an 1" of space when the trailer is unhooked and when you hit a decent bump the suspension would "bottom out". It got worse in the winter as my shocks aged.

At this point I don't plan on putting a set on my 2016 1500, I don't want to sacrifice the ride quality for the 4 or 5 times I tow my camper.

I really like mine. They work great for me when the trailer is hooked up then they keep everything level and smooth. unhook the trailer and mine works great. I have it a couple of big bumps or pot holes and bottomed out my suspension and hit the timbren but overall nice and cheap. I bought them on Amazon waited till the went on sale got them for like $159 for the set. Well worth the money.

What truck would you be putting them on? I had them on my 2012 dodge ram with coil springs. Had air bags in the coils also. I had to keep the bags pretty hard to keep from bottoming out on bumps when not towing. The 2014 ram i have now i just have the bags in the coils no timbrens so i can run less air in bags so my ride is better when not towing.

I've had them on my F-250 for a little over 2 years, and love them. They work for me just as advertised.

You should consider stable loads, I had them on my 2009 Silverado and loved them. I believe they are the same idea as timbrens but you can disengage them and have your truck stock when not towing.

Had stable loads on our 2008 Denali 1500. All they do is engage the overloads sooner when engaged. They do not add any extra support. I put timbrens on our2015 Denali 3500 and couldn't be happier. They act the same way as adding a extra overload springs or airbags, just not adjustable. Towed without them for the first 6 months, about 6,000 miles and with them since. At least 15,000 miles. We had a cap on the truck and a bed slide which together add around 500 #s, so the timbrens are within a 1/2 inch of being engaged even without the trailer. Neither I nor the wife find them objectionable. Just my vote for the timbrens.

Had Timbrens on my previous RAM 1500, and adding them was the FIRST modification that I made on my 2500 when I bought it.

So what do the timbrens do? I thought they bolted onto overload leaf springs too? Obviously I have no idea what they are!

All that they are, are cushioned bump-stops that replace the factory stops. Factory stops allow 4 or 5 inches of spring flex, before the factory stop hits. Timbrens "hit" at ¾" or 1", and then compress as additional weight is applied.

You remove the factory bumpstops and the Timbrens are installed in their place. Another rear suspension enhancement system that other members have good success with is the Roadmaster Active Suspension system.

Must have been typing at the same time as Fire Instructor
