Tow vec eagle 328rlts

I am looking at buying this model trailer. dry weight 8625 with toung weight of 1162. What vec would be best to tow this weight. The only time i would have to tow is if a huricane was coming my way. I would tow empty. I can by a 1500 silverator with a tow weight of 9600 lbs. I do not want to over buy. But i want to be safe. Problen with a huricane is you do not have to much warning so i want to have my own truck to tow .

You would probably need something beefier like a 2500. That's a heavy trailer and a heavy tongue weight for a half ton, even dry. Once that thing is loaded with your stuff you'll be a lot heavier too.

If I only had to move it before a hurricane them I'd definitely want something that I felt confident in its abilities. The 1500 doesn't give me that confidence, especially with a storm coming.

I agree a 250 is needed. The tongue weight of the silverado is probably not more then 900#. Usualy tongue weight rating is 10% of tow capacity.

I agree with the above responses. A 250/2500 will be your best option. If you're not towing it that often, I doubt you will need to go with a diesel, so you can save some dough there. The problem with 1/2 tons is they don't have a large cargo capacity. With 1100# of tongue weight, you will be close even with the bed of the truck empty and nothing in the trailer.
