towing 35 foot eagle premire with 2500 gmc

I have a 2013 gmc 2500hd with 6 liter gas engine and 4.10 gears. I would like to purchase the new eagle premire 35ft. The gmc spec. on the truck is 5th wheel towing 13,900 and 3000 pounds in the bed. Dry weight on the trailer is 11,717 and a pin weight of 2185. Can i tow this 5th wheel or is to much. Anyone out there with this set up , like to get some imput.

Dry weight on the RV matters not.. what is the fully loaded max weight of the RV? Dont forget to add the weight of driver and passengers to the gcvw.

Although the wieght capacity empty does not excede the trucks, the pin is close, i recommend air bags and do not overload the camper. you will be able to tow it, but your fuel mlg is going to be very low.

IMO, to much 5th Wheel......, wouldn't tow it with my 2500HD 6.0L/4.10 gasser.

Not sure which model FW you are referencing, but the Eagle Premier's average about a 15,000lb GVWR. The UVW of 11,717lbs is not the Ship Weight (yellow sticker on FW), so with the FW I would add another 700lbs, so for Ship Weight I would assume 12,417lbs.

Our personal loading habits may differ.., but an assumed FW loaded weight: (12,417lbs + 1,000lbs cargo, no fluids + 200lbs dealer batteries, etc.) = 13,617lbs Loaded FW Weight. Loaded pin weight @ 20% - 25% = 2,723lbs - 3,404lbs.

The towing spec's (Tow Ratings, Payload Capacity, etc.) on the GMC is based on the curb weight...., as stated you have to subtract the passenger weights, TV options, and TV cargo. The best way to confirm what you have to work with is go to a CAT scale and weigh your truck under "loaded" conditions. Subtract the CAT scale weight from your TV's GVWR, the remaining weight is for the hitch weight, FW loaded pin weight, and any weight not accounted for at the CAT scale.

My previous 5th wheel had the (almost) exact specs as what you are looking at however, my truck is a 2500 Diesel. In any event, IMHO, yes you CAN tow with that set up but it is questionable if you should. In my case, I decided that I shouldn't and purchased a 5er that was well below the towing and hitch specs rather than purchasing a "beefier" truck. Now, I am a happy and relaxed traveler .

I was in your same spot 1 year ago. I have a 2010 365BHS with the same specs as your camper dealing with weight. I had a Chevy 2500HD Diesel and I towed the camper a lot. The camper pushed me all over the road. The truck pulled the camper with plenty of power, the truck was too small. I bought a 2005 Dodge 3500 DRW and totally different pull. It is nice too have to much truck, I should have bought a dually along time ago!
