Toyota Tundra towing question
Has anyone had any issues towing a jayco feather lite X23B it weighs around 4500 loaded with a Toyota Tundra 4.6L V8??????

It shouldn't be an issue. You didn't mention what year truck you have and what cab style you have. No matter the case, it should not be a problem. The lowest rated V8 Tundra I saw was still rated for about 6,500 lbs.

Towed our jayco 250 special at around 5000 lbs with my 06 Tundra with no issues. Use a good WDH system and you will be good.

Thanks for the info. we are looking into buying a 2013 tundra with 4.6l we have the 2008 tacoma prerunner now its supposedly good for 6500 lbs but its really struggling with the trailer weight I bought the equalizer hitch to try and help also just seems like to much weight. Just don't want to buy another truck and end up with the same problem. Maybe we should look into the 5.7l V8 tundra any opinions?????

The 5.7 would be even better. We have a 2010 5.7 Tundra with the towing package and our trailer is probably about 6,300 when it's loaded. Tundra doesn't even break a sweat.

For the difference in price, the 5.7L is a no-brainer. I had a 4.6 with a 22FB and I thought it was right at the limit of the comfort range. My 5.7L pulled my 8000 lb Keystone easily. I've since traded for a F-250, not because the truck would pull, but because I wanted more payload and the option of moving up to a fiver. The 5.7L is a very capable TV, especially with the 4:30 rear end.

I have the tundra with the 5.7 liter. In my opinion it works like this.
I have never heard anyone say..." Wow my T.V. has toooo much power!!!! "

There is no substitute for cubic inches. One tow across the Colorado Rockies will verify that. Buy the most truck you can afford. Nobody has ever woke up one morning and said, "Man, I wish I has less truck".

Get the 5.7. You will regret it in the long run. The differences in mpg and price are very, very minor. I have a '12 CM with 5.7, and that engine and transmission combination with the tow package open up the next level of towing. I'd suggest you look/ask over on Tundra Talk. There are more than a few remorseful buyers of the 4.6. It honestly just doesn't make sense.

I too have a '12 CM with a 5.7 and love it. I would also think about resell and trade in value. The 4.6 is more for a grocery wagon than a TV.

I have just purchased a 29N Jay Feather lgt. 6500 lbs. Tow veh. is a 2013 Tundra w/ 4.6 and Tow pkg. Know nothing about a weight distribution Hitch and sway control. can anyone offer any expertise on the subject?

The 5.7 Litre is a much stronger engine. You will probably get better gas mileage as well. We got about 8 mpg with our 2006 4.7 Litre Tundra with our 26BH. Get about 10 mpg with our 2012 5.7 Litre Tundra with our 27 DSRL, which is 1000# heavier. Don't even think about the 4.6 Litre if you are going to tow!

Look at a Reese Dual Cam System, or an Equalizer hitch. Those are the most popular. I have a Fastaway, but I like the Reese system better.
