Weight Distribution Hitch Set Up

When setting up the hitch head to the shank, what is the correct position of the ball to the shank? I don't think the ball position should be perpendicular to the shank. I think the ball should have slight backward slant away the shank. If so, how much of a slant should there be? Right/wrong??? Comments please. Hopefully I'm asking this in the correct manner

I just had mine installed/adjusted by the dealer and mine is straight up and down, no tilt.

Check with etrailer.com even though I did not buy my WD from them they helped me with my set-up !

Assuming you have a standard WDH......, the position of the vertical axis of the hitch ball can vary depending on the final adjustment of the WDH. The WDH "ball mount" (ball is attached to) can be adjusted in many positions thus affecting the hitch ball position. So depending on how much spring bar force is required to meet your TV's weight distribution requirements, which is adjusted by setting the ball mount angle and/or the amount of chain links under tension at the snap-up brackets......, the ball position is a by-product of these adjustments.

Head tilt depents on your TV and TT. Essentially the head should be adjusted so the WDH bars and parallel as much as possible to the trailers tounge (or at a slight downward angle) when hooked up and loaded with a min of 5 chain links. If you cant get to this point you may need a longer rise/drop for your hitch head.

Exjay, hello there young man ! Question please: on our 165 the water heater is a manual operation with it being in the on position and then lighting the pilot with a lighter am I correct ? Our 3rd trip on our TT will be with hook-ups so we might try the shower ? Any other thoughts would definitely be appreciated.
