That has been a growing trend in the industry. I hate it, but we settled on one anyway.

I've emailed Andersen support to see what they can tell me about using an adapter. I'm guessing with a tongue weight of ~440 I probably don't need much in the way of weight distribution with the F-250 so mainly interested in the sway control. At least I have time to get things figured out as we have a late start this season due to other commitments in April/May. First planned trip is late June.

When I had the trailer, I sprung for the Andersen extended shank 2 1/2 inch shank. It let me put the tailgate down while connected. I also found the shank adapter and the 2 inch, left a lot of slop in the sway control. Non issue with the 2 1/2.

It was special order and not exactly cheap, but worth every penny.

The weather this weekend finally turned nice so I got it out of the garage, hooked up a trailer and drove it to the antique store to pick up a dinette table that the DW had purchased. Felt good to exercise the F250. Now, if I can just get the time to hitch up the FW!!

Ordered a set of WeatherTech No-Drill mud flaps for the new F-250 along with a 4" Drop/Rise with 2 1/2" shank for my Andersen hitch so I can get the current trailer going once the truck is broke in. Also got the dash cam installed. Finding out about the joys of live 12v accessory plugs and USB ports after turning off the key. They stay on for a long time compared to the RAM.......

Replaced the left/right rocker switch that selects which outside mirror is being adjusted. Unfortunately it was part of the window/door lock assembly, but it is installed and working. I guess it just was worn out after 13 years use. All is good again and a lot cheaper than a new truck.

Yesterday I installed a front hitch so I can use an extra bike rack to carry the adult bikes while the kids bikes are on back of the trailer.

Nice, I love that setup I was telling my wife that we need to get out and get some bike for her anyway because I have one, no kids all grow but even though that one is still at home for now she don't go.

Ordered four new gas struts for the side windows of the camper shell. Now I won’t get bonked in the head when filling the auxiliary tank in the bed!

Just got in it and drove it for a couple of hours with a Coke and a smile - gotta get through the break-in period. I'm itchin to hook up the camper and see how it does. I must say I'm quite happy with the 6.2L gasser and the 4.30 gears. It's definitely peppy when empty......

Installed a set of WeatherTech No-Drill mud flaps front and rear. Had these on the RAM as well and really like them. Quick and easy install.

My Andersen 4" drop/rise w/2 1/2" shank arrived today so I was able to get it swapped in this afternoon. Level coupler height is listed at 26" so I have it set at about 25 3/4" as I don't imagine my little 440lb tongue weight is going to drop it too much and I like to run slightly nose down. I can go one hole higher without flipping it but that would take would take it to about 27 1/4" and I don't think it will drop enough for my liking from there. I could be wrong but those adjustments will have to wait for another day. Now, I need to get out there and drive it some more - still only 250 miles on the odometer and I need to get to 1000.

Washed it and used a little trick to dry it that I found on the ford truck forum. They said to use a leaf blower to dry it and it worked very well. Only used 2 small microfiber towels to dry after that. After drying I tried a new product from Mothers to wax it called Mothers CMX ceramic wax. Product went on very easy and left an incredible shine. It did however leave these annoying little white beads but they came off easily with an additional wipe. Now I'm going to apply another product right over the Mothers CMX called P&S Beadmaker. https://psdetailproducts.com/i-23875...rotectant.html I'll let everyone know how this goes. I plan on using the Beadmaker on the camper as well.
