Put a new tank strap on. Had some gooseneck hitch work done and they found one that was questionable. And it actually went well. Bolt out, strap on.

Replaced the front sway bar linkages today.

Next week, tranny flush, it'll mostly be done under warranty, as I have a leaky pan gasket.

Filled up with E85 to see how bad my unloaded fuel mileage will drop. E85 is $1.99 and 87 unleaded is now at $2.49 near me.

It always shocks me what some areas pay for fuel. We are $3.09 for regualar and $2.69 for E85. Got to love PA and our gas tax.

I think you’ll realize that the E85 is not worth it. You will see more than a 20% decrease in fuel economy versus the 87 octane.

When I had an F150 years ago, I tried E85 and I got about 30% less mpg

Wow that is kinda high. We are about .75-.80 cents less.
If the government really wanted people to use E85, they should not blend it in regular 87 octane but offer it for 35-40% less than gas. At that price, people would fill their tanks all the time with it because the decrease in price matches the decrease in fuel economy

What did I do? Got myself a new one. Traded in my rusty 2009 Ford F150 CC with 302,000 miles on a 2013 one. 6.2 liter engine, 80,000 miles, Max Tow, 11,100 lb towing capacity, 7700 GVWR package, 1500 lbs payload, big towing mirrors. Pulled our 7800 lb trailer 150 miles, wow what a difference!

I’ll be interested to know what you find out. I’ve always heard the MPG will be substantially lower. I also have to wonder what it would be under loaded towing conditions although my manual says to use 91 octane when towing. Please keep us informed.

I paid $3.49 for diesel yesterday for my Ram. I'd have to look it up to be sure, but I believe that PA has one of the highest fuel tax rates in the nation.

Sounds like it. I filled up with diesel yesterday as well. Paid $2.59

The DW tried E85 in her Explorer a few years ago with the same same results so she never filled up again with it.

My truck gets around 11-11.5 running around town and that's probably 80 percent of the 6k miles or so I put on the truck in a year. If MPG drops off 20 percent, that's really a negligible number cost wise but at 30%, E85 won't be worth it. It will be hard for me to compare the 2 fuels if I can't follow the same routine week to week but I'll give it a shot. Here is a fancy E85 cost estimator I found on the interweb: Gas vs E85: cost per mile, cost per year

Exactly right. The point I was trying to make is currently E85 is 20% less per gallon than 87 octane in your area. Your fuel economy will decrease by more than 20% so it ends up being more expensive to run E85 versus regular unleaded.

Here is a link I found from Feb of this year. Pa is the highest in the nation followed by California.

Don't get me started! We are paying so much in fuel taxes that even the state can't remember what they are for (seriously). Here's prices from today

I can't wait to leave this hell-hole.

Not soon enough - but it will be a very long time.....

I've got teenagers, extended family and a career that's tied to Hollywood. Retirement is almost 10 years away

Well at least I booked our next camping trip I'll get a little R&R next month.
