This year, at 2,000 mi of our 8,000 mi trip, had to replace all 8 injectors; a large unplanned expense. I knew three injectors were marginal and hoped they'd last the whole trip. Nope. Just lasted the first part.
That does not sound right. Injectors rarely fail, much less all 8 at the same time.

The front is a little more stiff now, but the biggest difference I have noticed is my stopping distance. Replacing the front shocks has made a significant improvement in my breaking. Total project cost was $185 and it took about 4 hrs in my driveway.

After seeing the difference changing the front shocks has made, I've decided to do the rears also before camping season starts.
You were lucky. My truck has a plastic battery box over the driver shock tower. Makes it a nightmare to change. They must install it before the engine. I "modified" it so I will not have to go through the hassle I dd this last time.

TRUE DAT! Short version... Back in 2007 at just under 100,000 mi, I had all 8 replaced with aftermarket ('oversize') injectors. Many (6?) years later, I was having occasional, rough running issues. In 2014 at about 315,000 mi I had it tested at a Ford dealer. The cylinder contribution test showed that 1 injector was failing and 2 others were consistently weak. I knew the handwriting was on the wall.

I thought they would last for '1 more trip.' I was wrong...

At about ~2,000 mi into our ~8,000 mi trip towing the TT this year, the engine roughness became more frequent, more serious, and lasted longer. We were close to friends and family in MI and decided this was the best time and place to have the work done.

Because I did not have standard Ford injectors, just replacing the bad injector(s) was not an option. I 'bit the bullet' and had them all replaced by Ford at a Ford dealer and have a 2 yr unlimited warranty for them.

I have tested several hundred fuel injectors on various engines and out of those, only two were bad. The rest I was able to clean and bring up to full flow.

I wish I'd seen your post last fall. Maybe it would have been OK for another 4,000 mi to get to Houston. I guess having about 215,000 mi on them, I feared they were at the end of their life... although I've never seen any information on injector life expectancy for the 2006 6.0 PSD.

Fuel injectors are bullet proof. They see temperatures that would cook most other hardware. They cycle on and off so quickly and so many times, I too am amazed at how long they last. They just get dirty\clogged. I charge $25 per injector with all new seals, filter screens are provided, tested, a full flow report, and I balance them to be within 3% flow of one another. Most of the work I do is for racing enthusiasts but they are all the same to me.

P.S. My advice. If you are having that many problems, get a second quality fuel filter with water separator and consider having your tank dropped, inspected, and flushed. I just did my 1991 twin turbo stealth and they are running as good as the day when they were new.

Tonight is forecast to get down to 19 F so I plugged my truck in. It starts fine at that temp but why not. It didn't take but a minute to get the extension cord out.

Bought new spark plugs and wires. Too cold outside to work on it today. Hoping it warms enough Saturday to at least nose it into the garage to get them changed. 118,000 on the originals, figure it's time.

I am old enough to remember when plugs rarely lasted 18,000 miles.
Just goes to show you how much more efficient\clean burning todays motors are.

My FICM went out a few weeks ago, just over 105K. My batteries were in good shape but the diesel tech said low batteries can accelerate it but they do fail after 100-125k miles.

Tried to find it! I believe that is the TV directly behind the Snow Blower LOL

Still many hours of Snow left but wanted to knock it down to a manageable level. Already 16" in SE PA

Not today, but doing things to the TV seem to be constant. I recently had to have the Heater control box replaced because a couple of the mode doors broke, so all I had was heat coming out of the dash; it would switch to defrosters or floor etc. Anyway, on the Dodge Rams, changing this heater box requires complete removal of the entire dashboard in order to do the job correctly. In short, the dealership which did the work messed up my Remote Start system by re wiring it incorrectly when they put the dashboard back in. I fought with them for over a month, finally writing letters of complaint to the dealership headquarters, and to the BBB, and finally to Chrysler headquarters.
So just recently, I had an entire new (and upgraded) Remote Start system installed. I now have a 1 mile range, and it is programmable, so when the temps are really low and staying below zero for several days; I can set it to start the truck and let it run for 20 minutes every 4,6, or 8 hours (have it set for 6 hour intervals).

For those of you in the hotter climates, remote starts can be a handy tool as well. My Dad had one put in his car. When he and mom are out shopping and running around on a hot day, he starts his car about 10 minutes before they leave and lets the A/C cool the interior down before they get in.

Same situation here in Lancaster, PA. We've had about 2' and the mayor has ordered everyone to get their vehicles off the streets. It'll be a couple of days before we can get out, I think. My TV has been uncovered, and I could get out in an emergency.

I made it bigger.
Traded in my '12 Frontier for a '15 Titan. 50% higher towing capacity and a few more bells and whistles. Model change for '16 meant huge discounts on the '15s. Picked up a Pro-4X model loaded for a hair over $28K US.
