Put it in the shop for a water pump, something I have changed myself numerous times on older gassers, but the Duramax is a different animal. You just about have to take the entire front end off the truck to get to it.

My brother put one like this on his truck. Very nice, but I think he said it was around $150-$175. Mine was $35 including the shipping.

Yay, the mud flaps arrived. When you spend this kind of money on a new ride, something small like FREE mud flaps make for some good will with the buyer. Even if there is the dealer's advertising on them. I see that all over with different dealer logos. My brother's dealer gave him his for free ( with their logo of course ). I called my dealer to ask if "maybe" that was supposed to happen & was just overlooked. Nope. I can have a pair for the rear only, with their logo for $100! I'll pass.

Also, we have two small dogs. Seems they like standing on the center arm rest so they can look out the windshield. My wife made this cover to protect the arm rest from their nails, and to give them a little more grip when I apply the brakes.

I took my new 2015 Silverado to the body shop to get the dent in the hood fixed where the car wash arm fell down on it while I was in Florida. Happened with 2000 miles on it. Probably be done today. Should have washed it by hand.

This happened the first day I was in florida. Truck was covered with road salt from driving down through the snow and ice. Pulled into car wash, it wasn't like the ones at home. The ones at home, you have to pull up on a raised platform with one wheel before the red light goes on and it tells you to stop, and the wash won't start until you do that.
This florida car wash, I pulled in (light saying pull forward), then light said stop (I stopped) but pull forward light stayed on. This confused me but I didn't move. Then back up light came on. All 3 lights were on simultaneously, pull forward, stop, and back up.
I saw arm coming down, put it in reverse, too late, it slammed into the hood. What a piece of junk claiming to be a car wash.

Almost ruined my trip.

Very sturdy setup. All the talk about payload, tires and towing ability (which are all important) but I have not seen discussions about stock hitches. I think some would be surprised. Just got my Curt C15302 Class V yesterday. Their very inexpensive and offer a lot more ability over a stock hitch...

I have a step for Buddy it works great, for getting in and out of the back of the truck
folds up and lays flat in the back of the truck.
I started the old Dodge up yesterday. for about 20 minutes, ( Only storage Insurance on it for the winter) I put a solar panel on it for the batteries seem to work good,
The only issue I had is when I plugged it into the cig lighter, the radio came on ( key not on) After market radio, used the same ground wire as the cig lighter. So I just make sure the radio is off. ( Weird)

Just ordered four new tires for the back of the truck.

I really wish I could put something other than 19.5 inch tires on this beast.

I could buy a small car for what it costs to replace them.

Only solace is that they usually last me 100K miles.

A few years ago on my 1500 when that was my TV. Note the difference in the Curt and the OEM hitch. IIRC the GM hitch weighed 33 lbs and the Curt Class V 54 lbs. Link to my thread on the change out below.

Crabman, thanks for posting that link. That was before my time. I don't think it's just the GM hitches that may be close on ratings. And it's not just the 1500's too. Did you change out the hitch on your 2500 (current TV)? I installed my Curt Class V hitch on my 2500 this afternoon. The stock hitch concerned me and it was less than $240 to get the Curt. I'm going to post up some pics when I get them off my phone.

The stock hitch with WDH was rated for 1,500lbs tongue weight and 12,000lbs trailer weight.

The Curt C15302 with WDH is rated for 2,400lbs tongue weight and 17,000lbs trailer weight.

I'll never "bumper" tow a trailer weighing that much but 1,500lbs tongue weight max on the stock hitch doesn't leave much wiggle room on the big trailers.

I have not changed the one on the 2500 yet as it is in great shape with no apparent signs of "pinbox flex" but its on my mind to do so since I know they are not as heavy duty as these aftermarket Class V hitches.

Fuel Filter Change #16

It was time to change my fuel filter and I was 40 miles from the nearest dealer. Note the water sensor/drain that is on the bottom of the fuel filter that is reused on the new filter. The little blue wire broke off during removal of the filter. Fortunately the nearest dealer had one in stock and a ranger with the COE was coming my way later the same day. He brought it to me and I was back in business. This little wire just snapped off from fatigue I suppose over 10 years in service and living through 16 filter changes or it almost lived through #16.

Nothing exciting. Took it for a 40 mile drive to small store and back. Only 2nd outing for it in several months. But the 1st was just a couple weeks ago when I took it in for new batteries.

Got it serviced for the first time - OUCH!!! Knew it would be more expensive than the Tundra was, but didn't expect the cost to triple. This was at a reputable shop that we've used for years, so I know they weren't gouging me. Think it's time to start doing my own service again

+1. I'm doing my own fuel filter change next weekend (I'm at 9812 miles). I've had 2 oil changes now (1 at dealership; the other at Goodyear) and I'm going to go back to doing my own too. I still love the truck when I'm towing tho!
