Over the last 2 days, I replaced all drums, rotors, wheel bearings, shoes, pads, wheel cylinders, calipers, springs and the fluid. Not exactly a small job but not too bad...UNTIL one lugnut would not come off. If I had brakes, tire store would have been working on it, but I had no way of getting the suburban there. 750 ft lbs impact hammer wouldn't budge it. Put a tire iron on it with a 12 foot cheater pipe. Rounded off the nut. By this time I was extremely hot!! Idiot with an air gun got happy and he cost me about 50 more dollars. Had to go buy a specialty socket (easy out), and a propane torch plus new lugnuts. Still took over 2 hours of heating up cooling down and switching between a 4 foot breaker bar with me and my neighbor standing on it and the impact wrench to break it loose. Master cylinder is next. Probably do that next weekend.

Changed the oil and filter yesterday. 7 quarts of Walmart SuperTech 5w20, full synthetic (only $18 for a 5 qt jug) and a Purolator filter. Nice little shade tree project. I've discovered that removing one of the step rails to get under the truck works pretty well for me. My gut is too thick to slide underneath from the front end.

Should be good for another 6 months, or whenever the EVIC tells me it's oil change time again. This time it determined 3500 miles was enough. That's with mostly in town driving. If I'm towing cross country, it'll let me go the full 8000 mile recommended interval.

Actually yesterday: Had 1 glow plug replaced (why do they always seem to fail in the summertime when it is HOT?).

Ordered a new XM Radio receiver. Mine had become intermittent and smelled burned.

Finished replacing the center link, inner left tie rod, both outer tie rod ends and both tie rod adjuster sleeves.

All with the help of my youngest son learning how to turn wrenches!

Just finished hand washing the RAM 2500! What a difference from a Mustang! I never thought I was gonna finish!

Thanks,

I've had the Firestone air bags since January. We are on our fourth camping trip since then and they have been great.

Towed the trailer back from Bethpage Campground. Spent a nice five days there. Was our first time. Some things I didn't like but we had a lot of fun...
