My current truck is my first Ecoboost as I've always been a V-8 guy and I am amazed at the power it's got. Just a quick heads up though. It has an adaptive learning TCM (transmission) and until you put about 100 or so towing miles on her your mileage is likely to suck. Mine was between 8 and 9. I have about 800 miles since June and my mileage is about 12 - 14 towing my almost 8,000 lb trailer.

Good luck with the new F150. I've been a Ford guy my whole life...
From my research and what I read, they updated the sync three about mid year and the 2016s now have apple CarPlay integrated in them, guess I will find out when she gets here. I didn't think to check it on the 2016 I test drove. I will let you know once I get it.

Bought 2 quarts of Valvoline Syntech 75w-140 synthetic gear oil and a tube of black RTV sealant for my rear diff yesterday. Was going to change the oil today, but ended up babysitting my grandson. Great kid! He's been down for his afternoon nap the last 2 hours- wakeup time is coming up soon.

So I plan to do the oil change tomorrow, plus, change out the coolant. Have to buy a few gallons of premix Mopar HOAT tomorrow.

Bought Timbrens for the rear of my Chevy Colorado. It is a small TV towing a small TT. Our SLX 145RB is well within the towing capacity of the Colorado, but I thought it would reduce any sagging.

Changed diff gear oil- removed cover this time and inspected the internals instead of just draining out the old from the plug. Washed up the engine and engine compartment.

So, the 2016's still hitting the lots do not have the carplay, however, it's still "supposedly" coming as an upgrade/update this year. we will see.

At any rate, I traded in my Titan on Saturday for this new 2016 F150. Then Monday, bought the golf cart (one of the reasons for trading in the Titan, crappy payload, as compared to this F150), and then today got the windows tinted (a must here in sunny FL)!

Last week (sorry, I forgot) I changed the oil for the 2nd time. Went very smooth this time. I'm supposed to rotate the tires and lubricate the front drive shaft. I don't have the appropriate grease or grease gun attachment yet for the drive shaft, and I just haven't felt up to rotating the tires yet. I'll do it one of these evenings after work...

Took the kid's car seat out of the truck and put it back in the "Truckster" (Acadia) a couple days ago, so the truck is out of "DD" status until our next adventure.

Added a Curt front hitch to my f350. Now I can carry paddle boards while towing my 5er.

Replaced the oil and fuel filters. Did it myself this time at well under half of what I was charged the first time around.

Welcome to the Blue Oval Club! I have been a die hard Ford guy for well over 30 years. Love my 2016 F150 -Probably the best truck I've ever owned. Did you go Ecoboost or V8?

Replaced ball joints. Upon removal of the rotors and brake calipers to get to the ball joints, I discovered I needed to replace them as well. So, new pads, calipers and rotors along with upper and lower ball joints. Now I need an alignment.

Got it home after replacing the other exhaust manifold and having the transmission serviced.

Removed the original owner's cell phone antenna. Bought a new radio- to be installed, along with cruise control this weekend.

Got the K&N air intake and filter in the mail today. Guess I have something to do tomorrow morning. It was time to change the original air filter (just over 13k miles on the odometer), so I figured why not. The K&N was by far cheaper and easiest than most of the other intakes to replace (IMO). If nothing else, I've got a cleanable and reusable filter.

All the tundra owners out there

I may move away from the diesel and towards the tundra 2015-2016

I have a 29.5BHDS Jayco Eagle HT

Will the Tundra handle that much weight? Comes in at about 10k

Wish I still had my Tundra, but IMHO it is no match for a 5er, HT or not. The engine and power train should handle it with no problem, but you'll be way over on your weights - payload capacity is just too low, especially if you have 4x4 and one of the higher trim levels.

Made an appointment to get a glow plug replaced next week. Why do they fail in Florida in August when they aren't even needed. If I lived here year round I wouldn't bother.

Timbrens

Installed Timbrens on rear end of my truck. I have a small TT, but it is also a small truck. I don't know if they will help, but they cannot hurt. I saw stories of rusted bolts snapping off in the frame, but a squirt of penetrating oil and the bolts came right out. If I had known it would be that easy, I would have installed them before our Labor Day trip! Well, now I'm ready for the next trip.

Great points. Same I am getting on the tundra forum.

Killed about a bazillion Snout-Nosed butterflies over the weekend (drove through their annual migration last weekend), so DW did me a huge favor and took it to be washed. The car wash did a decent job, but I'll still have to go in there and do some work.

I don't want to know what my loss of cooling efficiency is with all those butterflies in my radiator, condenser, and trans cooler, but I imagine they're not doing me any favors. I rinsed it out once at the park, and will have to do it again at home.
