Same as Camping Grandpa - good scrubbing on the outside along with vacuum inside. Unfortunately no upcoming trip as we are winding down for the season....

I let the rear tire pressure down to 65 from 80 since I'm finished towing for a couple of weeks. My right rear pressure sensor just beeped indicating a low battery, but I removed it and will replace the battery in a few.

Aired the tires up to recommended pressures, 75 in rear and 60 in front.

Put a pin in the 2.5 to 2 inch hitch adapter. Noticed that after adjusting my 2 wdh hitches for the extra height of the new truck I had forgot to put the pin back in the adapter. Been driving around for 2 days without it. It's a wonder it didn't fall out.

Road trip

We are at a campground in Twin Falls for what is likely our last trip before parking the TT for winter. Yesterday, we left the TT and drove to Boise and back to visit one of the kids. Our truck got over 21 mpg while going a legal 80 mph for the four hours of interstate driving, all on cheap 85 octane gas. Today, we tow the TT back home, probably at 17 mpg at 65 mph like last week when we came to Twin Falls.

And yes, the other Jayco factory is located here.

Over the weekend I took it out to the deer lease, but it had "light duty"; my dad's truck did all the heavy lifting this time!

Last night, I started mapping out the installation of a hard-wired inverter. Looks like it's going to be easier than I thought. There's a great spot for it under the rear seat that has easy access for wires coming from the engine bay. The only real doubt I have left is where and how I will ground it. I don't really want to run a pos and neg all the way from the engine bay, but if that's the way it has to be, then so be it. I will try for a chassis ground closer to the inverter itself, and it looks like that should be doable.

Just gotta get DW to let loose of some funding! LOL!!

From someone who had a inverter in the last 3 (of 5) daily drivers:

Run 2 wires. The body grounds are NOT going to handle anything over 30A. Plus steel is not the conductor copper is. The losses will drive you nuts!

See if you can mount the inverter on the cabin side of the firewall to really shorten the lead lengths.

Pre-trip checks

Before leaving last weekend, I hitched the TT, plugged in the 7-pin, and checked that all lights were working. Then I tested the trailer brakes, and the trouble started. The manual brake knob popped off in my hand. When I tried to reattach it, I saw that the brakes were still energized. I unplugged the 7-pin do that the brakes wouldn't overheat. Then I went to State Trailer to buy another controller. Of course, I had to make a second trip to Walmart for wire connectors because I had the wrong size. Four wires later, everything worked properly, and we finally started on our trip.
We were really glad that it failed in the driveway rather than on the road.

Oil change, topped off DEF tank, rotate and aired up tires.
Will bring the rv home from storage this weekend and get it ready for a trip to the Oregon coast.

TV QUESTION--towing 2015 Jayci Eagle 306RKDS with 1999 Suburan K2500. Last year, I added leaf springs & am wondering about installing air springs. it seems like we have quite a bit of bounce. Will this help or any other suggestions would be appreciated.

A bag system is a great move when towing.
I use them on my 2500 and they are phenomenal

Dropped it off at the dealership today.

Got a MIL on Saturday. First thing I tried was the gas cap (even though the Ram has a special notification just for the gas cap) with no glory.

Tried to get the computer to tell me the code on the EVIC, but only got dashes, no numerical code. Took it to Autozone, and they couldn't read the code either.

So, it's at my last resort, the dealership. When I dropped it off, she said it would probably be tomorrow before they could look at it.

Here's hoping it's just a programming issue. Engine was running just a little rough, and the "ECO" mode didn't look like it was coming on. I'm guessing it will be a misfire code, but that's just a guess. We've got our first really long trip coming up in just a little under 3 weeks. Dealerships work slow, so I hope we can still go!

Picked it up from dealership today! Pleasantly surprised. Turned out to be an EVAP canister leak. They fixed the leak, flashed the PCM and the ABS for the latest releases and sent me on my way! But not before offering me wiper blades.

It was the weirdest thing, the service advisor calls me and opens with how I need new wiper blades. I told her "who cares about the damn wipers, what's the MIL code?" She says "oh yeah, we fixed that, you're ready to go. Now, about those wipers..." I literally laughed out loud and said "no thanks, I'll be there in a minute!"

They seriously need to teach those service advisors some "bedside manner"! Anyway, truck is back home and happy, so I am too!

I'm leaving this morning for Talladega for a week of volunteering and yesterday morning I drove to a Dr appt and when I pulled into the lot and turned off the ignition and removed the key, the a/c blower was still running. Why does something happen right at the last minute every time?

After the Dr appt I drove to the dealer which was only 3 miles away and was convinced they would be backed up out in the street on a Monday morning. I was surprised that they got me right in, identified the bad part and actually had it in stock (fan controller). I was done and back on the road in an hour. Fortunately this controller is in the passenger compartment right above the front seat passenger's feet on the bottom of the fan motor and easy to get to. It seems this controller is a known problem, but it took mine 10 years to fail.

Now off to Talladega later this morning.

Rotated the tires last night. Not a terribly difficult job, but I put it off for about 2600 miles (according to the fuel and maintenance app on my phone). One more thing ticked off the considerable "to do" list before our long trip.

Next thing will be to attempt to fashion a sub-floor in the back seat floorboard for the old wondermutt. He has severe arthritis in his hips, so riding all kinked up in the floor pan is not the best for him, even with his orthopedic bed stuffed in. He can do it for a couple hours at a time, but 15 hours is a bit much for his old bones. I may not succeed, but I gotta try, he's been a good dog for us and this could be one of his last "hurrahs"; I'd feel better about it if I could make him a bit more comfortable for the ride.

In for LOF and winter tires on. New cabin air filter, and brake maintenance. Will be purchasing new summer tires before swapping again in the spring. Just waiting for a good deal on the new Michelin Premiere LTX.

A light for the AC and heat control dials burnt out so I tore the center section of the dash apart to be sure and order the right one. Found a 20 pack of led dash lights on eBay for about 9$ now just waiting for them to come in.
