I have a 13 with the same specs (minus the lighter body) so I won't answer your question, just curious what you're thinking of towing?

Sorry. I have a 2009 long bed F150 super cab with tow package and I pull a loaded 2014 24FBS Elite TT. Specs say it weighs up to 7500 lbs. loaded. My 5 liter V-8 pulls it very easily and gets avg. of 12 MPG. As you can see in my signature I use a 10,000 lb. Equalizer hitch and have 3.73 gears. Hope that helps.
Happy RVing,
Jeff

We have a '13 FX4 SCREW EB with 3.73, was pulling a Jayfeather x20e hybrid, this year a JaYflight 26RKS. Can't tell you any about the 26RKS yet, but the x20e I literally forgot it was back there a couple of times it pulled so well.

I have a '11 F-150 w/Eco-boost & HD tow pkg. pulling a 2013 Eagle 266-RKS (GVWR 8500 lbs.). Great combo! Pulls like a dream! In tow mode w/cruise control, I loose about 4 mph going up a steep grade before it downshifts and the turbos kick in. Then the speed goes back up to set speed by the time I get to top of hill. Kicks down a gear on declines, or I can downshift to even lower gear if necessary to maintain downhill speed. Of course, you won't get the compression of a diesel, but it works well enough. I keep trailer tires inflated to max on sidewall, and TV rear tires @ 48 lbs. (50 lbs. max on P-rated TV tires), and average 6.5-12.5 mph while towing - depending on loading, terrain, and wind.

With a 2015/16 aluminum body, you should pick up an additional 600-700 lbs. of available payload capacity (depending on your options).

Hope that gives you some insight.

Thanks Guys for the responce, I am looking at the jayflight 32tsbh model with elite and fiberglass option. We dont travel far and never fill water tanks when traveling. Campsite we use alot is about 45 mins away. We usally book 1 week at a campsite about less then 200 KMS away, but normaly use the closest campsite on a regular basis. Payload on my truck is 1574 lbs max, with max tow capability of 10,700 lbs. Will I be fine with this TT? I will also be using the equalizer 10k wdh. fyi

That trailer is too big for your truck and that hitch is too light for that trailer.

Your hitch rating and rear axle rating will be exceeded.

That trailer weighs over 8K dry and tongue weight of 1200+.

My brother in law has this trailer and pulls it with a Dodge 3500 6.7 diesel just to give you an idea.

Thanks for the responce skybound, Jaycos web site states tongue weight of 665lbs? seems like every TT i've looked into, will not work with my TV, very frustrating. We need a bunk house model, and I want something from Jayco but not sure what now ? seems like Im running out of options here? if anyone has any recommendations on a different model, please share. Trading my TV is not an option as we have only had it for 3 months..

Bexiga: If you only pull it 200 kms and you stay within your weight limits go for it. The TW mentioned is dry TW when it left the factory. When loaded you should be around 1000 - 1100 lbs. That's around 13%. The 1000 DWH is to low I would recommend 1200 lbs bars minimum. You are pretty well on the max with everything. 3.55 gears are a bit low but then you are not pulling your TT everyday either.

You should be aware that the published tongue weight doesn't include batteries, LP tanks or LP. Those alone will add considersble weight to the published unloaded tongue weight and are not things you can get around. Even if you pack light, there likely will be items in the front pass through that will also add TW.

My 29QBH was a good balance for bunk room, weight and overall length for us. Although my TW still hits 1000#. We tow with a 2500.

In general when you get beyond 26' class and some 29' class TT you are likely going to need a bigger truck, and that is not just with Jayco TT.

Our last TT had a published tongue weight of like 650lbs. With full propane, battery, pots/pans, (no food, water) the scaled tongue weight was about 1,000lbs. The manufacturers published weight is misleading. You will never tow that camper with that weight.

I've seen folks tow a big TT like the one you are looking at with a half ton. Physically it must be possible.

The tail will wag the dog. Take your truck to the scale with full fuel and passengers. Check your weight compared to the GVWR and RAWR.

Plan on a 1,200 lb tongue weight (much closer to reality than manufactures dry figures w/o popane/battery). See what that looks like.

None of us will be able to tell you if you are 'ok' towing that load. Everyone has different levels of what is comfortable (especially when kids are passengers).

My experience with a 30'+ TT behind a half ton truck is: the engine is powerful enough. Physically it is possible. Driving over 60 mph gets tough with highway traffic and cross wind. Before I traded the F150 off, I was considering LT tire upgrade and air bags to try to improve towing on the highway.

If you towing short distances under 60mph, I think you would be pleased.

8075lbs unloaded weight is without any options as has been stated. As delivered with the elite package and fiberglass you are probably in the range of 8500-8600 unloaded weight. Add in your 400lbs of stuff (it will probably be more than that, most people add 1000lbs of stuff) and your trailer weighs in at 9000lbs with very conservative estimates.

Bumper pull trailers require 10-15% of their weight as tongue weight. Travel trailers tow better in the 13-15% range.

9000*0.13=1170lbs of tongue weight.

If you have 500lbs of passengers and 1170lbs of tongue weight you are 100lbs over your payload already. This is overloaded before you add a bicycle, firewood, water, beer.....whatever else you want to bring.

That trailer needs a 3/4 or 1 ton to pull it. I don't think you would be comfortable pulling that at the best of times let alone when you have to maneuver in an emergency situation or slam on your brakes for something.

There are other bunkhouse models that you are capable of pulling. Although your payload is not very high due to having a Lariat.

How many kids do you have and how many beds do you need?

This would be more suited to a half ton with 1500lbs payload.

We pull a Jayco 197 w/pull out. We have a 2015 Supercrew w/3.5 EB. Not sure what the rear ratio is, but the truck has no trouble. We have pulled it some long distances, 5000 miles one trip last summer, for example.

I see some scary setups on the road. People pulling larger trailers with smaller trucks and SUVs. Not sure how they make out, but I am sure they will tell you, "I don't even know its there." Yeah, right.

I could be wrong but I thought I read that Jayco is one of the few trailer companies that actually weighs the trailer once it is complete with options? My trailer says 7710 on website but yellow sticker on the side says 8400 I believe

we have 2 kids, but we always have extra kids/adults with us. Our last TT was an 08 jayco 23b, I would have 10 people sleeping in that TT at times, lol

We have the White Hawk 28dsbh (bunkhouse model) and tow it with a '14 F150 Lariat, ecoboost, heavy duty tow package and 3.73 gears. The yellow sticker on the trailer says its just under 6000# from the factory. Max payload is 7500# but we may load half that weight in the trailer. Even fully loaded my Ford with those options is rated to pull 11,200#. The F150 pulls it with ease. Just my .02 cents

The trailer you're looking at appears to be too heavy for your truck IMO

I have the same trailer and pull with a '12 f-150 eb lariat crew cab 3.73 gears and max tow pkg. my gvwr for truck is 7700lbs and a gcvwr of 17,100 lbs. I am usually a 1000 lbs under my gcvwr and usually 100 lbs over my gvwr on the truck. I have equalizer 14000 lb hitch and LT E rated tires.
My yellow sticker dry weight on the trailer is 8935 lbs that includes two 30 lb propane. I should add we are a family of 4 two young boys and we don't put much in the back of the truck. Couple of bikes, bit of firewood. I would say total under 500lbs (cargo and occupants)
I am well aware I'm at the absolute max of this truck but anyone that has pulled heavy with an eco boost can attest to it pulls amazingly and I am comfortable with that. The equalizer 4 point sway is also a major factor to that comfort as well, does its job to a tee.

Having said that if I was in your shoes I don't know if I would do it with your particular truck. I think the 3.73 gears, longer 6.5' bed and max tow/hd package and E rated tires are a must. Not sure on the new 15' but the max tow pks includes heavier class 4 hitch, oil and tranny cooler. I'm no mechanic but the 3.73 gears raises your pay load and tow ratings significantly. I believe you would be in the 1830 lb range in a equivanlant 15 as my truck. Would it pull it? Yes. The question is would you be comfortable going 300-400lbs over your trucks gvwr...because really that's the only towing spec # you will be over on your truck

I think he will also be over his RAWR and hitch rating as well.
