What type of Air Bag System

I own a 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 with a Cummins diesel and duramax tranny. I want to install a set of air bags to increase tow capacity and looking for recommendation.

I am debating on going from supersprings to airbags, so i will follow and welcome any recommendations as well. I own a 2012 F-250 FX4 Diesel.

I just installed the Airlift 1000. I am very happy with them!

I have had Firestone Ride Rite air bags since 2008 and am very happy with them. I have the onboard compressor with the single switch which airs up both rear bags simultaneously. Easy to use!

It's important to note that airbags won't increase your tow capacity, but they will level the truck and make it handle a whole lot better than without them. I have Firestone RideRites and mine work great! Makes hauling while pushing the envelope a lot safer and more enjoyable experience. They greatly diminish porpoising for example by dampening the oscillations from bumps.

On our previous truck, a 2500HD we had Firestone RideRite AirBags with the onboard compressor, they worked great.
Easy install, quality product.
No AirBags on current 3500HD, rides smooth and level with our Pinnacle.

John is correct. They do not alter any of the capacities of the truck. They do affect WD, so if you are using WD, you need to readjust the WD with the bags inflated to the pressure you have them aired to when towing. The raising of the rear reduces the tilt angle of the hitch and this reduces the bar tension, reducing the weight transferred to the front.axle. With a 5th wheel, there is no transfer.

Do you mean an Allison transmission? Rams come with a 68RFE from the factory.

As others have said, bags won't increase your capacity, only level you out.

Beat me to it...was going to ask about the transmission also. As a Ram 2500 owner

No worries, would love to see pics of the transmission swap and how you got the electronics all synced up, that stuff amazes me. If you have the time start a new thread, I don't want to hijack this one any further than I already have

We have Firestone bags on our 3500. They really help to level the truck. What shop swapped out your 68rfe for an Allison?
