What's your MPG while towing your White Hawk?

We just bought a 28DSBH and I was wondering what other White Hawk owners out there are getting for fuel mileage while towing. We only made the trip home with it (about 50 miles) in a 25 mph cross/head wind, so I don't have much experience with ours yet. I was getting 10 mpg with my ecoboost F150 3:31 ratio @ 65 mph.

We returned a couple of weeks ago from our first trip, 1350 miles. Michigan to Tn through the hills of Tn and averaged 10 mpg.

My 1500 gets about 9.8 mpg with the bed empty. Worse if I throwmin the 750lb quad. Looking for 3/4 ton this fall.

Last summer from Redmond, WA to San Diego, CA and back we averaged 10.3 mpg hand calculated with our Ecoboost F150 3.73 w/Max Tow. It seemed that 10-11 was the average to expect, although in the San Joaquin valley on the flats we averaged about 13 for a short time.

With the Duramax diesel we are averaging 12-14mpg depending on the grades.

One thing to note is that I only go 60-65mph due to the LRC tires.

8 - 10 mpg with our 08 1500 silverado before we got our 2010 2500HD Duramax. Got an average of 12 with the new TV on our trip south [3000 miles] a couple months ago. Sounds like you are in the ballpark for a 1/2 ton.

We made a 250 mile round trip to the NC mountains this past weekend. Averaged 10.6 mpg. I didn't run over 55mph on the interstate.

Since quite a few have the ecoboost F150's, one thing I noticed was no appreciable fuel economy or power benefit when going from Regular to Premium gas, even when towing.

First time towing our JayFeather x20e with our 2013 F150 eco boost 3.73 Max tow and got 11.0 in one direction and 12.0 on the return. All towing was 65mph. Number of steep hills near the camp ground. I love towing with the ecobeast!

I've been running premium in mine the last few tanks. I don't notice a difference in power or fuel economy either. Only reason I have been burning premium is the owners manual led me to believe it must make more power because it recommends using it while towing. Don't know if I'll continue too or not. It's forty cents per gallon more, or about $14 more per 36 gallon tank.

Love towing with mine as well. Wish I had the max tow package, but it wouldn't fit in my garage with the longer box. 11 to 12 is more along the lines of what I was hoping to get.

We tow a Jay Feather 29Y with a Ford 5.0 with 3.73 axle ratio. Our last (and first!) outing with this combo was 10.8 on the way down and 11.0 on the way back. I am good with this.

Driving 90 miles to RV dealership, we averaged over 22 mpg on our 2013 F150 Ecoboost driving 60-65 mph. Very windy day. Heading home with White Hawk 27DSRL, averaged about 9.9 mpg. Noticed truck rarely got out of 5th gear while going into head wind. Did not use tow/haul mode, as drive was on very flat roads.

Cheers,
Greg

Don't know if I read it somewhere, or if I made it up, but I was thinking the tow/haul mode should be used under certain hilly conditions. But after reading the manual again, it says to use it when towing without specifying any certain conditions in the terrain. So, that's what I'll do. Thanks Bassdog.

First time out with a 2014 White Hawk 28DSBH fully loaded with water. TV 2013 Suburan 1500 and lots of wind and 90 miles of rolling hills and 80 miles of interstate highway got 8.8 MPG both going and returning.

I've heard the same with some vehicles, but again it's so the tranny doesn't constantly hunt for gears on hills. With your Ecoboost the truck just keep it on when towing or you have a heavy load in the bed.

Safe travels.
