Our friends just did a deal on the trailer in the title. It has a dry hutch weight of 635 lbs. they currently have a hitch that has 800 lb draw bars, will this be heavy enough? I am thinking a 1000 lb might be better. Our trailer has a 790lb dry hitch weight if I remember correctly and we have 1200 lb hitch.

800# is not enough. I went with a 1200# Husky Centerline with the same TT and this set up works perfect. Could have went with the 1000# bars but for no added cost to upgrade I went bigger. This way if I ever upgrade TT's then I should be okay.

I agree that a WDH rated at 1,000lbs would be fine...., but, if you tend to load on the heavy side (family) and tow with fluids (fresh water, or black/grey tanks) then a WDH rated at 1,200lbs may be a good consideration.

The 2015 28DSBH has a UVW of 5,460lbs, add 600lbs (est.) for actual Ship Weight, 800lbs (est.) for family cargo (no fluids) = 6,860lbs loaded. Recommended loaded tongue weight range (13% to 15%) = 892lbs to 1,029lbs....., which a WDH rated at 1,000lbs would be fine.

Add 48gal. fresh water (or black/grey tank) = 400lbs + 6,860lbs = 7,260lbs would reflect a loaded tongue weight range of 944lbs to 1,089lbs.

Feel free to adjust my "assumed" weights to your personal loading habits, and/or if you know the actual Ship Weight of the 28DSBH in question.

Also, many folks don't realize that a WDH also supports any added TV cargo weight (% of) placed behind the TV's rear axle.

With any WDH it's effectiveness can be optimized (through proper adjustment) with a visit to the local CAT scale under loaded conditions.

I have 800 lb bars with my 28 dsbh and they work fine. Pulls great.
