Unhappy 21c Kiwi- refrigerator won't stay lit

I've had this problem with my Norcold refrigerator in a 2001 Jayco Kiwi 21c where the refrigerator works fine on electricity, but when I light the refrigerator prior to traveling it won't stay lit. The Ignitor/safety button pops back out and I can hear the clicking of it trying to light again. As long as the button stays pushed in the refrigerator stays on, but as soon as you let off the button it goes out.

I have already attempted to clean the little 'eye' that sees the flame, and vacuumed out the combustion chamber area.

I would like to avoid having to purchase a whole new refrigerator, any ideas?

Welcome to the forum!

Where to begin? Sounds like the thermocouple isn't working properly. You can try cleaning the thermocouple bulb with some scotch-brite or fine sandpaper. Make sure the flame is enveloping the bulb when lit and the refrigerator is level.

Try a search for keywords: refrigerator, thermocouple, level, etc. There have been many threads about gas fridges recently with tons of good information that will help you. I certainly wouldn't replace the fridge without some exhaustive troubleshooting first and then if you still can't get it to work seek help from an RV refrigeration repair place or a dealer.

Link to a good discussion on pilot lights and thermocouples. http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=19963

Agreed, it sounds like your thermocouple. Just had to replace one on my house furnace not too long ago.
