Bed end door seals questions/thoughts

Using my 2009 19' hybrid for the 5th time after buying it this February.
Seems like every time I tow it, it rains!
This is also the only time I experience leaks- towing in the rain.

1. Should I replace the seals? How?
2. Would it help to replace the sorry looking contact pads on the leverage arm locks that close the doors? They seem compressed and cracked and therefore don't close the doors as tight as when they were new .

3. Should I spray or treat the rubber deals with a product?

4. What product?

I bought this used camper in practically new condition this year. After owning it a month or two, the same wood sills at each end bed were water damaged after driving in the rain. They are lumpy and expanded from soaking up water.

It's painful to have damage so quickly to a big investment like this. I don't want to have to worry about towing in the rain. Any information is appreciated.

What have you done to the seals to protect them since you have owned the TT

Make sure your canvas is properly tucked in. Even a small part under one of the seals can let a lot of water in, especially while driving in the rain.

For treating the seals I use Turtle Wax Super Protectant. I used it twice a year on the bed seals of our old '03 Jayco Kiwi 17a hybrid that we bought new and owned for 10 years and they remained in like new condition the entire 10 years.

Trouble is you don't know how the previous owner cared for it.

If I were you I would take a trip down to White Horse RV and get with the parts dept. Make sure you have the tear model and vin number handy Let the parts dept. give you a list of what seals you may need so that you can get an idea of what may need to be replaced.

Another thing you should do is lower the bunk ends and using a straight edge check to see if any of the sides or top areas of the bunk ends are bowed. If they are not straight but are bowed this could be an area where water can come in.

Since you purchased it back in Feb and have had it out FIVE times and it has leaked every time. You should have addressed this issue after the first trip. The same goes for the soft spot at you entrance door. You need to find where water is coming in. Look on the inside at the wheel well area I had that problem on a Pop-up once. Also check the caulking around the door.

You may also want to get on the roof and check all the seams.

Also do me a favor Please do not go camping this coming weekend I could use a rain free camping trip and also no camping between Aug 19 thru Aug 28 That is the week I go and see the Little League World Series And the players sure would enjoy a Rain Free Series. Yes its been a very wet camping season this year.
