Anyone store 2-3 bikes in the hybrid when traveling? If so any tips?

Someone had a post showing how they built a bike rack to fit their TT. Is was made of 1 1/2" plastic pipe and appeared quite sturdy. They would take it out at the campground and continue to use it. I looked thru the mod section here and could not find it so must have been on a different forum. I plan to wrap the bikes in moving blankets and place them in the trailer.

i'm going to mount a step up into the front bed... more like a box, with a hinged top, and gonna put a bike mount or two in there... just open up the lid, mount the forks, bungee them together in the back, and roll out. well... i have a few issues with my idea so far... not sure how much room i will have to work the bikes in...

i've come up for a few more options if this doesn't work... with all that room inside, no way am i going to hang them off the back of the camper, or top of the truck...

i'll take some photos of this stuff when i figure it out in a few weeks.

We've stored the bikes inside, between the sofa and dinette. There is no much room there so the don't tip over

We've stored our between the sofa and table wrapped in blankets. I worry about the weight with a single axel trailer so this year they will go on roof rack of the town vehicle.

If you go this route and have questions or would like to see more pictures let me know.
Our bikes are very secure as we have a rack in the front and one in the back of the bikes. Does take a little bit of time to put the racks and bikes in but they do not move around during transport.

I also saw one idea for a hybrid on the forum that someone just attached a car bike rack, the type that hooks onto a trunk, onto the front of the fold down bed.

WARNING... if you have a bike with disk brakes that rack can bend the disk... I made one it now sits in the back yard as I had to replace my disks on both bikes..

Well, not a cheap option....here's the email I got back this weekend.

I suggest you the 7000 serie because with the hybrid you will maybe need to take of the rack to open the tent and that serie take less place.

Parts and Price for a 3 bike

7003-26-A,B or C approx$336.00
7000-AF approx$232.00
BR-AF approx$ 45.50
Total approx$613.50

For a 4 bike add approx$80.00 of the total
*The letter is the color of the base A=Anodized, B=White and C=Black

We have carried our bikes inside our 23B between the sofa and the cabinets. We cover the bikes with blankets and not had any trouble at all with them moving or doing any kind of damage. There have been 2-3 bikes depending on who is camping with us.

I used to put them inside and just put a tarp down and pack enough stuff around them that they didn't scratch anything in travel. I hated the solution though, because it made it hard to access the stuff inside once the trailer was packed. I'm a little obsessive about it, I want nothing inside the camper that doesn't have a compartment or cabinet to go in. I hate having stuff piled on the table, benches or floor. There are a few things that I have to make exceptions for, but not many. The solution now is that all bikes go up on top of the van. It helps that I'm 6'4" and getting them up and down isn't too hard for me.

If I were going to transport them inside the camper I think this is what I would do:
Make a base out of plywood or some flat board to fit exactly on the floor in the open area of the trailer. Then I would attach PVC or some other material in elbows onto the board to hold the front wheels and give something to attach to. I'd keep them shallow enough that I could pick up the whole thing and it would easily fit out the door so that after we arrive, the board goes outside and the bikes get parked on it at the campsite. If it was too wide to be unwieldy to get in and out, I might hinge it so that it folds down in half for bringing it in and out of the camper.

That's if I didn't mind having stuff inside. I do though, so it's on the roof they go.

I would be a little leery of that Mustang, I have had a problem with the seal on that bed end already and couldnt imagine an extra 30-40 lbs hanging off that bed end would help the seal of that bed end!!!
