Angry Condensation!!! :(

we camped last october and had problems with condensation in the bunks at night when it got cold out. we did have a regular tarp on one bunk because we were expecting (and got!!!) a lot of rain, and we thought we had a hole (we didn't- whew!). the bunk with the regular blue tarp had significantly (almost zero) condensation, while the other end was really bad....
i don't know if i want to spend $80+ on a set of pop up gizmos right now.
any other less expensive suggestions? i've seen UV tarps or solar blankets as options. ideas...?
thanks!!!

Unzip sides a little bit to allow for cross ventilation. Open roof vent. Get a couple of bunk fans... Need to have some ventilation to cut down on condensation.

Have you tried the blankets etc? I'm worried it will be too cold if I unzip the bunks...

We used to have a pop-up camper and had the same issue. We unzipped a little and it worked great. We used sleeping bags so we never got cold, even in April and October.

We locate the side window zippers up high in the corner. Then unzip each back 2-3 inches. Then in the bathroom we open the roof vent about .5 to 1 inch. We never have condensation issues unless we are a huge crowd in there when the weather is bad.then it's just the windows that fog up

Must ventilate pop-up campers. Best to cross ventilate (open each bunk end at the top to allow about a 2-3" vent.).

Just got back from Spring Break trip to St Louis and had same issue when it gets in the 40s outside at night. The condensation was heavy when it rained and with 5 people in a X23F. If I forgot to keep a window cracked and bathroom vent open. May be time to put a better cover on the vent since the kids kept closing the vent because it was raining in overnight.

mlugi - I have a 2015 X23F with 13 inch tires - I bought the camper used so I am not sure if hte camper originally came with 13's or 14's. What size are your tires if I may ask? Thanks in advance!!

My x23f has the original tires from when I picked it up and it has Grand Ride ST175/80R13 seems like one of the only tires I could find with a load D rating at that size. I was just looking to see if i could get a higher speed tire as an option.

Been there. I once set up my pop up for my wife and several of her family members at the Oregon Coast. I had to work a few more days so I went back to Portland. It had been raining. I got a call from my wife the day before I was to return, telling me that the trailer was leaking. I got up there to find bad condensation and trailer sealed up tight. I unzipped windows, opened the roof vent and wiped down every wall, window and tenting. No more "leaking" for the rest of the weekend. Ventilation is critical.

It won't that much cold inside. It will be letting heat and moisture out, but your heater will be running so no worries.

Condensation

Hi, we opened the windows and vents too and that helped quite a bit. I actually pinned an extra sheet to the curtains and then tucked it in above the roof bar and essentially made an absorbent roof out of the sheet. It caught all of the minor drips from the excess condensation. Quick and easy install and take down and didn't put a whole lot of extra pressure on the canvas.

I installed maxairii vent covers to be able to leave the vent open and left windows under the awning cracked open slightly. We also use the heater sparingly to t aka the edge off the cold air in the mornings and before bed but not overnight.

I know that you said you didn't want to spend the money on the POPUP Gizmos tent end covers... but I had the same issue with condensation using our X18D for deer hunting November in WI. I ordered the cheap ones and bought a roll of bungecord material from HD with some clips. BEST INVESTMENT EVER! my heater runs half as much, almost zero condensation (you still need a little ventilation, but not much) and best of all even though it snowed the tent ends were dry when I packed up and headed home.. highly recommend them for cold weather, or rainy days.

We have a 2011 StarCraft 3 bunk hybrid and went camping this past weekend. The temps at night got down into the mid 30s. We experienced a little condensation with 5 of us in the camper. However, it was not that bad. I think because we used a plug in space heater, it did not introduce more moisture into the hybrid. We just unzipped the tent ends a little during the day and the condensation was gone in a couple of hours.
