I'm the same height. I really noticed the bunk size difference when we were shopping last year. An inch or so of bunk length can make a big difference.

We close off the curtains during the day. When the sun starts down, we open and let the AC do it job. Not an issue. Some folks use reflectix. Will be looking at that soon.
