Did you upgrade to the larger AC unit when you purchased?

We are in the process of looking at some of the upgrades that are available on the x23b. I am not going to buy the mattress heater pads (we bought ours on Amazon), BBQ, TV (we have a TV/DVD combo) etc...
but my question is that there is an option to upgrade to a 15,000 BTU vs. the stock 13,500 BTU. We live in Ontario so it's not extreme heat, but past few years I have to admit, getting very hot and humid.

Did any of you guys upgrade or is the stock size good enough for that size trailer?

I think unless you live in a desert region down here, 15K is to much for that size camper. 13.5 is more than enough..

We ordered ours a few months back and have now been out in it for a total of 17 nights. We ordered all but the larger AC, the 13.5 does just fine. Our dealer gave us cost of all the options which was 1/2 of what Jayco lists it for as MSRP. Heated mattresses we used for 1 trip in the spring, very nice a warm with the heater set low. Power package (awning & tongue jack) is a must, the LED awning is very nice. BBQ everyone said to stay away from, but we love it. The BBQ/grill does great at cooking hot dogs, beef brats and utilizing frying pans for side dishes. I would look into the 2" lift, they sit very low and the additional cost was nominal. Finally, the enclosed underbelly, not a have to but for the price it does provide piece of mind for both restricted access to all living things bad for under the camper & an additional layer of insulation to prevent freezing when camping late fall or early spring. The TV/DVD combo you could probably do better on the open market, even with our reduced price it was still very pricey.

Hope this ramble helps!

We also got the enclosed underbelly because it gets cold here in CNY but it certainly does not provide protection from critters. Flimsy corrugated plastic with many seams. This past winter, our first with this camper, we had mice inside. We did not have mice with our previous un sealed camper. If anything it gives them more places to get out of the snow and closer access to entry points while they crawl around under there and no way to see possible entry points to further seal them with the enclosed underbelly covering them. But we live in the woods so it goes with the territory..

If you plan on making any trips down here to the down under(LOL), you might consider the bigger AC. If you plan on staying up in the high country, you will probably be fine. We are in Georgia and Florida a lot and have a 36 foot 5th wheeler. We bought the bigger unit in the main area and the second smaller option in the bedroom. We would not go any other way. It has paid for itself over and over.

We opted for the optional upgrade to the 15K AC unit.
In our old TT (a smaller trailer than we have now), we experienced a few days where the temp was in the mid 90's. The 13K AC unit seemed to struggle to keep the temp down to a comfortable range inside our unit.

With that in mind along with my general belief with many things in life, that 'too much' is infinitely preferable to 'too little', we ordered the 15K AC in our new trailer.

FWIW: That line of thinking also directed my decision of turbo diesel over gas when I bought my truck going on three years ago.

I think you are much better off buying it now then finding out later that you wish you had. Since it is a hybrid and you have the un-insulated bunks the $150.00 is a wise investment especially if you ever end up in a camp site that lacks on shade.

Our daughter has the 21 ft Starcraft version with the 15,000 and during the day it works to keep the trailer cool.

Consider having to much air conditioning which is possible with AC. It will cool so fast before it pulls all the humidity and then you are cold but clamy.

We have the 15K but with a triple slide 33 ft and in 90 degree humid days wife complains its to cold. Your camper I would opt for 13.5K
