Dinette table travel position

Ok, this is kind of a silly question, but I am curious. Do you leave your pedestal type dinette table UP when towing or do you put it down?
Reason I ask is the tech left it up and we came home with it that way. Didn't seem to do any harm, our salesperson also indicated this was ok, just curious what others do. I would prefer it be left up but I don't know if it might damage the floor.

Ours has never been down except when I am working on the RV and need access below, and that was once.

We place ours down so that I can store things for travel on it and there is still room for the BBQ underneath. We lay the television on it as we'll as the DVD player then place the sleeping bags around so nothing falls off around corners.

One thing I've learned the hard way is that the plastic end on the leg-tube can get stuck in the floor mount. I'm not sure if it's because I've left mine up all the time, or that I set my 30-packs of brew right over the outer table leg when putting the cans in the fridge, or if it's just because I let gritty dust build up at the lower end of the table leg.

Whatever the reason, the plastic end on the outer table leg pulled off the tube, and is pretty much stuck in the floor mount. I've tried everything to get it out, short of destroying the stuck plastic piece. I don't think I'll be able to get it out unless someone has an idea for me.

I would suggest, if you leave the table up all the time, to occasionally take it down and clean the plastic leg ends and the mounting holes in the floor. And check to make sure the plastic ends are glued firmly to the tubes. Otherwise you might end up having a situation like I have.

I believe traveling on the back roads of New England will loosen up the floor mounts if the table is left up, while highway travel is fine. So down it goes. Just my $.02 Larry

Maybe a hair blowdryer would make it soft enough to get a screwdriver around it. Just a thought.

Usually in the up position. I like to put lightweight stuff under it for travel, then I secure a net across the front from bench to bench. Things stay put while traveling that way.

Great idea Bigbird, and if I had enough hair to need a hairblower, I would try that. I thought I might try to carefully drill a couple of holes through the bottom of the mount so I could try gently punching out the plastic leg end.

Or I could just not worry about it. I still works. :hihi:

I like the net idea, hadn't thought of that, I've got a cargo net that would work great. We are planning to put all the blankets and pillows under it, just trying to avoid any extra setup. We just traded in our popup, which we really liked, but were getting kind off tired of all the setup.

I like to keep set up at a minimum too. It was a learning curve for me as the first few times out in the Z I wasn't all that cognizant of things not moving around, and that made for lots of extra work, cleaning up all the mess of stuff that had moved about the trailer. Now everything is secured and easy to relocate.

Can you put the tube back in the floor mount/plastic? You could unscrew the floor mount from the floor and push the end cap out.

I already unscrewed the floor mount and took it out. Unfortunately, it has a closed bottom. The tube does fit in the plastic end cap and I can use the table, so I guess it's not a major problem. Just the annoyance that it isn't right.

I travel with my folding table up. Not sure if it is recommended or not, but I haven't had an issue yet.

We just bought a used 29bhs, and the table would move and squeak when walking in camper so i just made a small support arm out of an old camping chair and attached it to a screw in the window frame and to the bottom of the table. It doesn't move at all now.

I always bring ours down only because I put all my bedding and other large stuff on top of it. I think it's personal preference.
