Fair Price for a 2013 Jayco Jay Feather 17z

Good afternoon! Happy April everyone! New poster here. I have been a Jayco pop up owner in the past and have LOVED the quality of Jayco. No comparison. I have decided after doing all my research and comparison that the 2013 Jayco Jay Feather 17z is the unit that I'm wanting to get into with my family. I am wondering what would be a fair price to get into this particular unit? I know that the MSRP is just a little over $20 Grand. I have seen some sale prices from local dealerships around $15,500. What should I be paying for this unit? Also, I'd love to hear from some of the 17z owners sounds off on their experience with the Jayco 17z.

$15500 sounds like a very fair price, we have dealers around here asking more in the $17000+ range. Our dealer is selling them for a little under 15500.

Thanks for the feedback! Tell me what your experience has been with you Z? How many do you have in your family? Did you ever look at one of the larger hybrids in the Jayco family? Like the 19H?

We love our 17Z. We spent 12 years in motorhomes and downsized to the Z with the idea of going as light and lean as possible. We have only one regret concerning the Z... the fact that we didn't go this route sooner!

My wife and I use it with two teens and it is all we need.

17Z has been great for us! We have 2 small kids, started in 2010 when they were 2 yrs old. Camper has been great, no warranty issues, nothing to gripe about. There are lots of 17Z owners on this forum that will say the same. It's a great floorplan in a small unit. Regarding the price, get a quote from RV Direct and bring it to your dealer and see if they will get close. If I had the storage room and the $ I would have got the 19H but no regrets so far.

Rv Direct quoted me almost $17000, they are not always the best deal IMO.

We have four people, including two teenage boys, the Z is working out great. We don't spend much time in the camper, but their is plenty of room to sit down and eat inside if need be or just to hang out if the weather is not cooperating. It is a very nice camper packed into a small package.

I like the 17z also, almost bought it.
But ended up with the 18d, kids really wanted their own bed
Our dealer had them for 15500 for the 17 also

What vehicle do you plan on towing with? My wife and I own the 17Z and love it. We drove from NJ to Colorado & Utah and were extremely comfortable. However you should be mindful that the X17Z does not have that much extra cargo carrying capacity.

The 17Z comes from the factory at 3100 pounds (with the AC and Oven). The maximum gross vehicle weight is only 3500 pounds (due to the 1 axle). That only leaves 400 pounds of cargo carrying capacity inside the trailer. As long as you keep that in mind and can pack your trailer light, you'll enjoy your 17Z.

If our TV was a little larger, we probably would have gone with the 19H just for the extra margin in cargo carrying capacity.

I have a 2010 F-150. Should have absolutely no problem pulling the Z. I did check into RVDirect as come of you suggested. I was quoted a price of $14,460. That seems like a very fair price. In fact, I haven't seen anything lower than that on the internet. This would include the following options as well:

1. Oven
2. DSI Water Heater
3. 2 Heated bunk end mattresses
4. Aluminum Wheel covers

RVDirect even offered to take another $250 off if I financed with them. Sounds pretty good to me! Anybody else on here have any experience purchasing through RVDirect?

The 17Z has limited storage, especially in the kitchen area so unless you're confident that you'll use the small oven, I'd pass on it and opt for the additional cabinet.

+1 on that. We bought off the lot at a great price, so we took the one with the oven. However, we don't really use it and would have preferred a cabinet instead.

Like Joe said, we definately would have passed on the oven. Not just for the storage, but I'd have preferred to be a little farther from the max weight of the trailer (3500 lbs). If you can get one at a good price without the oven, you can always get a toaster oven if you need one.

However, that option is up to my wife as she is the one who has the primary vote on that option. I'd love to hear some posters experience towing the Z. How many of you use sway bar? I would assume I'll have to do that with my F-150.

We bought a 17Z at the RV Show back in January to be used for a few weekend trips to the lake and vacations. Haven't had the chance to use her yet, but towing her home and putting her in storage, she tows very very well! We have a 308RETS on a seasonal site, but for get away weekends and trips I think we'll be very happy with the Z.

Show price was a lot less than the 15k being mentioned here, but maybe Jayco had some factory programs running for the show. I don't think you'll be disappointed..

I'd recommend a sway bar, the Z tows very well, but if you get into any strong crosswinds you will feel it. When we brought ours home from the dealer we had some fairly strong(25-35mph) crosswinds coming home. The sway bar definitely helped. This weekend I choose not to use the sway bar as we were going to a campground that is less than 10miles away. It was very windy coming home and I wished I had brought the sway bar.

I'd agree on the oven, not only does it take away space, it takes even more away from the limited cargo capacity.

Weird how RV Direct quoted you a much lower price, they told me $16,529 w/out the oven or DSI water heater.
