Fair price on a 2010 x17Z?
Private seller is asking $12,500 (firm). I think this is a bit much. They are about 1 hour away. I was quoted 14.4 from RV direct but there is none near me at all. The local dealer that is 45 minutes away has no 17z currently but I plan to use that quote from RV direct to help in negotiating. I rather save more $$$ on a used...but 12,500???

For $1900 I would want new with warranty.
However it will likely be more than a $1900 differnce when all said, I have found my local dealers don't really try to match RVDirect prices unless they have a unit that has been sitting and just want it gone. They like to use the arguement that they are a full service dealer and can provide warranty and service services that RVDirect isn't likely to provide you since you mention they aren't near you. Secondly, depending on where you live vs which RV Direct location quoted you, there could be a considerable shipping cost delta to the dealer that is always passed on to the consumer. We have been thinking about an upgrade for several months now. For us, living in California, the RV Direct quote on a 29QBH was ~$2500 less than we could purchase locally. However my analysis of the offer really looked like shipping was the difference and maybe a little profit margin. The local dealer had ~$2500 shipping to CA and RV Direct Iowa location shipping charge was $700 but then I would have incurred the expense to pick up the Trailer in Iowa. If I didn't value my time, I certainly could save some $ going with RVDirect, but it just wasn't enough so I ruled them out.
My point it although invoice cost "could" be the same for every dealer, landed cost may not be. So if your local dealer doesn't get all the way to $14.4 don't instantly think they are trying to "rip you off". They simply may have a diffent cost of ownership, and quite possibly a different cost to run thier business than RVDirect. That is what makes capitalism so great, you have choices on what is important to you.
Now I just need to sell our current 2012 TT. The trade-in is one place the dealer and RVDirect are simply not competitive enough for me. RVDirect said no trade-in possible, and the locally dealer is offer $4k less than I want--but I understand they need to not only have room to sell used, but also need to take into consideration what effect used sales of late model RV on their lot does to new sales prices.
I would bet the 2010 you found is someone trying to upgrade, just like us, and likey have a bank note hence the "firm" price. That doesn't mean you have to pay it though.

Yea, I was thinking I would be paying just about 16K at dealer. But I still think that 12,500 is high for one that's about 4 years old.

I have a 2010 Ex-port 17 that I bought from a dealer in May of this year. I paid 8,000.00 even. That was after they put new tires on it. Also had them replace the inner hot water tank for free after I had taken delivery.

Funny that this thread should pop up now, and I don't know where the OP lives in relation to Houston, Texas but my immaculate 17Z is available for under $9k. Now that is a steal.
Anyone interested can contact me for a link to a web page I created, or if "For Sale" links are allowed here, I will be pleased to post the link.

Sounds high for that model. I would think 10 would be a fair price.

Yeah, that's a bit much for a 2010, I've seen them selling at dealers for less than that and those sometimes come with 90 day warranties.

Thanks....
Well since Wayne won't drive up here I have found a 2012 17Z that a dealer 3 hours away just offered for 10K. I think that is a fair price. Just getting more details now. (Does it have a DSI Water heater, Etc)
