First de-winterize in our 2008 new to us 23B

In Massachusetts, it's finally above freezing. I just uncovered and opened up our 23B. All stayed dry and critter free. Attached the water hose and checked all the faucets and hoses, no leaks or freeze damage. My question is, how much water should I run through the lines to properly cleanse the lines of the red RV anti freeze. Thanks, and let the camping season begin!

Welcome to JOF

When the water is running clear and all the air has been purged you should be good to go.

Since the 2008 23B is new to you, I would also give the plumbing system a little chlorine sanitizing. I do this every spring after de-winterizing.

Per 2008 23B manual, refer to page #47:

http://www.jayco.com/files/downloads...ilename_90.pdf

The 2008 23B has a 30 gallon fresh water capacity including the hot water tank.

Bob

The RV antifreeze is not poisonous, just has a funny taste.

Personally when you put a little chlorine in the plumbing system. Personally I would use the standard method, which if I recall is 1/4 cup per 20 gallons, and let it soak over night then flush. I have used the double the amount method, and it took for ever to flush the system to get the taste of chlorine out of the water lines. Also at the pump inlet is a small screen filter. Locate it, un screw it and clean the screen. Have a rag or a couple paper towels as there is usually a few teaspoons worth of water that escapes.
