First trip

Hey Gang,

Just returned from our first trip with our new 17z. We spent two nights at Tims Ford State Park in south-central Tenn. Weather was perfect, fly fishing was not. Loved the camper. This was a great choice for us. With a 15 foot box and two fold down beds, we actually get more living room than in our previous TT, a 23 foot Antigua. Hope to see more posts in the Hybrid section.

Glad to hear you had a great time @ Tims Ford. Very nice park. Although i am new to owning a fifth wheel of my own, I camped with my parents for ~10 years. Tims Ford is a nice park only disadvantage i remember is no Sewer Hookups I heard there is now 4 sites with full hookups. How was the park?

Oh and from the other park, I remember Fall Creek Falls. I had a blast as a kid there we are going to try to add that to our list this year. Although I want to try and go for a LONG weekend because there is so much to do there.

Fishinggunny... I am so envious !! We just bought our 2011 17Z and thought just maybe we could get out this weekend due to a couple of warm days that northern Indiana had recently. Wouldn't you know it ..it's snowing today and suppose to be yucky the next several. Hoping to break in the TT the middle of next week without the water being on etc when the temperature rises... we are just dying to get moving here SO glad you had a great experience with your 17Z

To answer a couple of questions: The park is great. Nice boat ramp and snack bar. Clean bath houses (although they could use a few more shower stalls) and the parking pads are a little too close together. However, nice hiking trails and just a short dive (10 miles) to some good trout fishing. The lake itself is known for stripers and smallies. Not enough sewer hook ups. I found this out the embarrassing way. We came back from a hike to find our sewer hose uncoupled and laying on the ground. A note taped to our door read in part that "this site does not have sewer hook up. You hooked your sewer hose to the water shut-off valve. I was so embarrased and sorry for hooking up to the shut-off valve, but it looked just like a sewer hook-up. Lucky for all we seldom use our toilet when there is a bath house available. Most of what went down that hole was dish water. Funny story to illustrate that we all need to pay attention out there so that we maintain our favorite camping spots for the next guy.

OK Gunny, hookin up a sewer hose to a water valve just may qualify for a spot in the" RV Boneheaded moments" thread in the campfire chat section! We`ve all done a few of em! I even opened the thread with one. -Lee

Okay hooking up the sewer hose is funny. We just bought the same trailer and i would have done the exact same thing not know what I am doing. Now I am going to ask around that I am set up correctly. Thanks.
