Gas valve closed between trips??

Do you all store your camper between trips with the gas valve at the tanks closed?

Absolutely. No need to keep it open. Also battery is disconnected as well.

No, I leave mine on.

My camper is parked in my backyard and plugged into shore power. The fridge is always on. In case of power failure, the fridge will auto switch to propane.

It's worked for me for 10 years.

I leave mine on all the time. Reason being I would rather discover a leak before arriving at a campground. It is much easier to fix something like that at home than at a campground. If there is no leak when you return from a camping trip what is gained by turning the gas off?

I have an automatic changeover regulator so both tanks are always on. I pull the cover an check 3 days before a camping trip to see if the regulator has switched. If if has I refill the empty bottle. I check the water in the battery at the same time.

I store my at the house with shore power hooked up. I even set the A/C to hold the temperature to less than 90 degrees in the summer. I use a space heater to keep it above 40 degrees in the winter.

There's 2 different scenarios here. If you are storing in a remote location and buttoned up then absolutley in the off position. If you had a leak something bad could happen. Now if you are home storing and it's plugged in and ventilated I am okay with open position as I do.

I keep mine open all season since it's being used every other week and for the longer trips troughout the season. We load the fridge and freezer during the week prior and I once forgot to turn on the valve which did not make for a good start to the trip. The extension cord came uplugged and the unit was without propane for over 12 hrs so I had to throw out a lot of food as a result. Now I don't turn it off and that error will not occur as a result. It's okay to make mistakes, just learn from them.

Since I don't store my TT at my house (it's at a storage center), I turn off my gas.

The battery disconnect is a very good idea, I hadn't thought of that.

I think it depends on several factors as have already been mentioned. How long between trips and where is it when not in use.

My rig is in my yard and we use it at least once a month or more year round. I always leave the gas valves on.

My gas valves are closed while the camper is sitting in the driveway, unless I am running the fridge in preparation for a get away.

I keep mine on, but my trailer is here in the yard and kept plugged in most of the time.

I keep mine ON all the time. I came home one day and as I was getting out of the car I heard a hissing sound. After looking at all my tires I discovered a squirrel had eaten a hole in my gas line. I was glad to have found it before I got to a campsite and tried to turn something on. Would have made a nice explosion if I had not discovered it when I did.

On the other hand if the valve was shut of there would be less chance of a fire or explosion while the trailer was unattended.
