hooks for awning

I have a question can the hooks that you slide in the track to hold rope lights stay in the track when I roll the awning up if we take out the metal hooks and just leave the plastic part.
Thanks

I would not. I would think it could damage the awning material since it would have to stretch over the plastic parts.

If you do the Sunblocker by Carefree, I can attest to that! Do it! Anything else, I can't imagine not damaging the awning or roller...
