Question IPOD hook up on Jayco x17Z iRV stereo system

Just picked up our new 2014 hybrid. Trying to connect IPOD so we can hear music through speakers. Unit identifies USB port as connected to IPOD, but comes up with an error 4. Manual does not address this error. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have the same issue. I tried playing music from my iphone through the USB port on the Jensen radio and I get nothing...

I've never been able to get the USB port to work for connecting my iPhone 5S to the stereo my 2013 X23B. I just use a connection from the headphone jack to the aux input on the front panel stereo. This configuration works just fine.

The USB port does not interface with an IProduct If you have a thumb drive with music on it, you can plug and play.

You can purchase the IProduct interface cable that plugs into a harness on the back of the Jenson radio, but specs show limited Iproduct compatibility ( eg. Not compatible with IPhone 5 )

The best you can do is use the audio out port ( headphone jack ) from your IPhone and plug into the front of the Jenson radio

I use a double ended 3.5mm wire (headphone jacks) that takes sound from the iPod or Satellite radio dock and runs it into the media input on the stereo. Not ideal but works fine.

I don't think any iProduct will interface sound through a USB cable unless the receiver has isoftware built into it or a sync capability.

The other way would be to place it on a dock and then interface it to the camper stereo through some sort of output/ input.

The new lightning USB's do not interface with either Jensen or IRV. Your best bet is to just go through the headphone jack and plug into the 12V outlet for keeping it charged. Tried the old type Ipod cables with the lightning cable converter and no luck.

Not sure if it's the same radio, but when I removed my Jensen radio, there were a mess of wires in there. One of them (not connected) was labeled iPod which uses this cable to connect to the iPod.

Which model Jensen do you have?

If you look up the specs of the Jensen radio in your 17z, you will see that ipod / iphone compatibility is not supported on this particular Jensen model. The next model up has it. I argued with Jayco about this last year because the brochure claims you can play your ipod, but they would not upgrade my stereo. I can use a 3.5mm cable to play the ipod, but it is not the same.

Seems pretty sad that there is no bluetooth or real ipod connection. Our x23b has the irv headunit with a USB port and something called a digi-port, but I can't find any adapter anywhere. The port looks like s-video input? You would swear it was 2005 still. I might just go pick up a car stereo and call it a day.

You are just a year early. My new 2015 Jayco has the Bluetooth built in.

By the way you can put your music on a USB stick and it will play it from that.

I would much prefer iphone functionality than USB. I'm seriously bummed that 2015 got bluetooth...

I just used a straight cord from headphone jack on iPhone 5s to aux in on my 2014 x23f and put my input to aux in...worked perfectly.

We used the 3.5mm headphone jack and the aux connection on the Jensen. Worked, didn't have any "iControls" unless I stood next to the stereo, so that sucked.

I finally got fed up, bought another "Jambox" to keep in the TT. Should have done this from the start. Sound is 100x better than the Jayco factory speakers us it's very portable so we can take it outside to the campfire or beach for music in our proximity but not having to blast the TT speakers and disturb other campers.

The factory system can be upgraded pretty easily. I have already swapped out the crap stock speakers and installed Polk 6.5 car speakers and the difference is night and day. I went ahead and loaded my iTunes music to a SD card, but you have to toggle through to get to the music because the album art makes the head unit think that it's a photo. The system has the power to add 2 more speakers as well, which I may do.

I bought a headphone jack bluetooth adapter. This allows me to use either my i-pod or phone. Amazon sells them for under $25.00 and they are rechargeable, lasts 8-10 hrs. It will give you minimal controls from the head unit adapter to skip a song or stop the feed.

x2 on the upgraded speakers, but think I am maxed out with the 8 stock locations.

Thanks!

Thanks for your suggestions about our IPOD/iRV stereo system. We will try some of them out when we get our trailer out of storage next ... It sounds like many of you have Jensen stereo systems ... don't know if that makes a difference. Thanks again.

I have a 2015 and it does not have Bluetooth. It has the sucky iRV system which is a piece of garbage. It's difficult to use, doesn't do what it's supposed to most of the time and has a mode specifically called iPod but won't play anything off an iOS device. Perhaps if I had an iPod Shuffle from 2008 it would work.

I'm honking of upgrading to a decent car stereo. Must have cost Jayco $5 for each of these iRV units.

What system does your trailer have?

This works for streaming music from your iPhone. I use a double ended 3.5mm wire (headphone jacks) that takes sound from the iPod or Satellite radio dock and runs it into the media input on the stereo. Not ideal but works fine.
