Jayco 23b slide out
Will the slideout on the 23b work if we aren't connected to shore power? In other words....will it still operate on battery?
Thanks in advance.

I might also add... the power awning will work as well if you have one.

Yep the slide motors are 12v, just make sure you have a charged battery or are still connected to the tow vehicle when opening / closing.

Does the 23b slideout have a manual option if there is no power?

Yup. The trailer should have come with a stamped sheet metal "wrench" that you can use in an emergency. You can use it by laying on the floor and lifting up the dust ruffle on the couch.

I am not sure if they still come with the wrench. Our 2012 did not. But as Mcfarmall stated lift the dust ruffle and you will see where it needs to go.

The jayco manual says to use a 5/8" socket. Looks like a long day if you are manually retracting the slideout.

I was wondering the same for a manual option for the slide. I don't have any other wrench either other than the leveling socket tool. We bought our 2013 used so I'm not sure if there would have been something else that came with it or not. I'm still learning with this camper - thinking about getting it de-winterized next week and doing the sanitizing of the water system. I think I'm safe now in central MN??

I am pulling mine out of storage tonight! I do not plan to dewinterize until middle of next week, just to be safe as the temperatures are still so cold. My TV said it was 33 degrees last night on the way home from work. The extended forecast for the Twin Cities does not show it warming up much for the next few weeks.

It does look better as far as lows next week. We have friends that get together at a sod farm just for a one night dry camp, planning for May 9th. Hoping it works out. I would like to take some water along and test out the water system.
It certainly has been a long hard winter this year here.

First picture is of the stamped sheet metal "wrench".
Second picture is my awesome hand applying the wrench to the slideout actuator shaft. The hex is 5/8" and I suggest getting a socket with a ratchet or better yet, a high torque cordless drill.
