Kiwi 23b owners

I just bought a used, Jayco Kiwi 23b hybrid for a very modest price of $1800. At least it feel like it is a modest price. I'm curious. How much did you pay for yours? Did I get a good deal or did I screw myself on my very first camper?

If there is no rot that is a super bargain. I paid 8000.00 for mine 2001 back in 2006. It had been under a carport since new. It was extremely clean with new tires and all camping supplies to go with it.

There is on soft spot at the doorway. Only about a foot worth. Other than that it just needed a ton of cleaning!

On a side note, where did the 'Kiwi' branding come from? It seems like the same exact trailer piece for piece just with a different sticker on the side. I've always wondered about this when I've seen them in campgrounds.

Oh, and for the record, we have a 2004 Jay Feather 23B that we paid $7500 for back in 2011. It does have a soft spot down by the back bed but other than that is in good shape and I would hope to get more than $1800 if I were to sell it. I think you got a great deal.

Three years ago in 2013 we traded our old '03 Kiwi 17a hybrid. Much smaller trailer than the 23b. Had I sold it outright I could have gotten 4k+ for it. Our dealer sold it for 5k. It was 10k new. If yours does not have leaks and the canvas is in good shape then you got a great deal.

Kiwi was the name Jayco gave to what is now the Jayfeather line. The Kiwi shoe polish people felt it infringed on their name (like everyone would assume that a shoe polish company was suddenly making travel trailers!?) and threatened litigation. Jayco backed off and changed the name to Jayfeather.

Thanks for the input. When buying from a lot it's hard to know for sure, sometimes.

That's good info. I've been wondering about that myself.

I bought one a month ago for $3500. It was in really good condition except I'm having trouble with the slide out. Does yours have the slide out? If so can you please take a picture of the metal rod under the couch? I think I'm missing the end piece.

I can do that tomorrow. I'm going down to the lease for a few days and will post it then.

I'd say you got a great deal. I bought a previously owned 2001 17a Kiwi in 2014 for $2000. Just needed the usual, Tires, battery, etc. I've spent more than double what I paid on upgrades and other stuff bit still really happy with it.
