What adjustments should I look for when hooking up with a new tow vehicle.old one was a ford ranger. New one is a f150.I have a husky weight distribution hitch

Can't tell from your post what type or weight your TT is, but based on the fact that you used to tow with a ford ranger, I'm assuming it's pretty small , so with that assumption, your WDH is probably overkill, but it still provides good sway control.

You will not need as much forward lift from your WDH on the F150 frame. Adjust the torque so that all 4 points ( truck ft, truck rear, TT front, TT rear ) are generally level to one another.

There is a good chance you will need to adjust your WDH and lower the ball/mount on the shank in order to get everything level.

Actually there is little need to be concerned about rear squat on the truck. Some rear squat is normal, but yes when all is said and done it will be more or less level.

One purpose of WD is to put weight back on the front wheels to restore steering control. Most trucks have a WD spec for this. Measure the height of the front fender before the trailer is on. Measure again with the trailer as dead hitch weight, no WD. With GM you have to bring it back to stock height, with Ford I believe the spec is half the distance that the fender rose. Check your owners manual, the spec should be in the towing section.

I just changed vehicles and had to go through all of this too. I would recommend writing down all the info on your WD Hitch, then go to the manafactures website. Equilizer has a excellent online video and downloadable Setup Manual, your's probably does too.
