Outdoor speaker question

Question for anyone who has worked on or replaced their outdoor marine speakers: Does that center grille pop or pry out? Or must you remove the four screws and the entire outer plate to get at the speaker?

Apparently the slightly decorative foil cone in the center detached from the cone over the winter. All it needs is a dab of hot glue... but heck if I can find how to get that grille off!!

(Was hoping I wouldn't have to do the entire outer plate, which would break the sealant and all that good stuff.)

Thanks!

Mine just pry out with a pocket knife. Nothing holding the grill in place but friction.

If you want to get to the back, the screws must be removed.

Must be a helluva lot of friction. Broke the blade, and now have two small screwdriver notches in the plastic. This thing isn't budging. Damn. A 50 cent fix, but I can't get to it. Frustrating.

I have had problems with corroded connections on the back of both of my outdoor speakers.

Check that before changing them.

speakers

Luckily I didn't have to replace the whole speaker. (TT is 1 year old). Just the foil cone in the middle was not stuck where it belonged after the winter. Popped the cover per the video above, then hot glued the foil back to the center of the cone. Done (for now. I hope.)

I picked up a BLUE TOOTH Speaker from WALMART and was very much impressed with the quality. I can carry this speaker anywhere inside or outside and it really sounds nice...

The one i got runs on rechargeable batteries...

Turned out to be a great PLAN B thing for us...

Welp, I tried this trick and ended up breaking the freakin' grille cover!!

So now do I replace the whole speaker, grill and all? In addition to the 4 screws, it looks like they sealed it with white silicone. Will I need to cut through the silicone to remove it? And what size speaker do I need?

Worked for me!

I was able to use a spring puller to pull the cover off. Hot Glued the silver piece back on the cone and they are fixed. Want to replace them since they are not the best speakers, but finding a quality 6' speaker is not easy I have a 2016 Jayco x213.

New Speakers

Here is what I replaced my dry rotted speakers with, from Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Jensen 5.25 speakers, inexpensive and provide better sound than the factory speakers.

I'm rolling a 2014 White Hawk 2RBS, pretty sure most of the Jayco's use the same speakers, at least the ones mounted to the outside walls.

Just finished replacing the speakers on my X20E.

Totally rotted out... nothing left. Fell apart as I touched it.

(OLD ROTTED CONES)

NEW SPEAKER (S)

Finished Install

Note: New speakers (5.25") lined right up with existing holes, but because Jayco did not install the Right Speaker straight..the replacement looks off now. :-( (that's the advantage of pop out grills I guess)

I paid $40 Canadian from my RV Dealer. Cheap enough and they are Jensens.

Sorry this video does not exist

I really want to view the video in this thread. I have been trying to pop off the grill to my outdoor speaker and I need to know what I am doing wrong. The thing is making me crazy!

I was able to use a short blade and jam it in at the bottom of the inner grill. The use a longer blade to pull it fully out. I’ll glue the foil thing in when I get home but now we don’t have to listen to the rattle all weekend

My current trailer is the second one that came with outside speakers. I had my first one 7 years, going on 5 years with my Autumn Ridge and I have NEVER used them once. We usually camp in close proximity to other RV’s and as such don’t feel the need to share our noise with others.

That being said we once were next to a nice Class A with an outdoor TV. It was on all day with the audio turned way up so that we could easily hear it and no one watched it the whole day. What a nuisance!
