Outside stove?

Hi. We just traded our 19 year old Jayco Eagle 12 UDK pop up for the x17z. The 12 we purchased new and loved camping with our 3 kids and dog but now we are empty nesters and the idea of our own private bathroom is great. And the much easier setup is wonderful. But I really miss not being able to hang the stove outside for cooking. I've been looking online for a stove to buy but everything seems to be cooktops rather than the boxed unit I'm used to. Any ideas anyone?

Sorry I can't help with stove options but when we originally bought our trailer and it came with an outside stove, I thought I would never use it. I probably would not have ordered one if we special ordered our trailer. However, we have used it on the last two camping trips and we love it! Good luck with your search.

Boxed unit, are you talking about an oven, or a stovetop? Either way I'd check out Camp Chef. I have one of their big 3 burner stoves and absolutely love it, but they have smaller units, either table top or free-standing. Also enclosed ovens, if that's what you are looking for.

Welcome to the forum.

No clue on the stove question, but wanted to say WOW!, you kept your previous unit for 19 years while raising 3 kids! That is wonderful. I imagine you had some great times.

I use either one of those camp chef big heavy duty stoves connected to the quick connect on the side of the camper ( I replaced the hose that came with the stove with a quick disconnect one), or I use a colman propane I connect via a hose and an adapter to the tank on the front of the camper. That adapter comes right off the tank with a T. One connection to the hose to the high pressure stove, and the other connection to the regulator that connects the two tanks. These adapters are available from Marshall Gas controls sold by retailers on line.

We're on our 2nd hybrid. We went from a pop-up to a hybrid in '03 and this is the only thing about the pop-up we miss, the removable stove. The notion of carrying a behemoth of a second stove never sat well with us so we don't have a second stove. We hardly ever use the inside one and do all of our cooking over the fire with one of these.

I like your outside cooking platform. It is tough to make things like coffee over a fire so I most often use the coleman propane camp stove which I store in the wardrobe closet in the camper. You can get used colemans on Ebay sometimes that are in real good condition.

Thanks everyone. I still have an old 2 burner Coleman stove left from our tent camping days that I've tucked into the storage hatch and it works fine. I just miss the convenience of the old hang on the wall unit. It was a wedgewood and I'm surprised they only sell cooktops now. Not the cased tabletop model. I think I'll get a 2 burner cooktop and build my own frame to support it and to hang from the bbq rail that came already on the feather. That way it's handy and not taking up picnic table space outside. I did find a couple of used stoves on eBay, but they were going in the $200 range, which seems extreme when I can buy a new cooktop for $100 direct. Happy trails all.

I had a removable stove in the pop-up we just sold Now we have the Hybrid and although it has the mount on the outside for a stove the one that is inside is nor removable and a outside stove was an option which I can only assume is the original owner never had. We prefer to cook outside and what I was able to find was a stove that someone had for sale on e-bay I contacted the owner and said if he didn't sell it that I would be interested as we lived in the same area. He didn't sell it and offered it to me at a better price if I would pick it up. The stove was original from a pop-up of a different Mfg. I got it and had a hose made up so I could use it connected to the propane system on the camper. Although it wasn't new it was in very good condition and fits our need perfectly

We are not a fan of cooking with the outside attached propane stove on our trailer...

We use the COLEMAN ROAD TRIP that comes with a nice fold out stand. It also has a nice roll around tote case as well...

I have three or four different cooking tops I can use that stows away in the carry tote.

Runs off a 1lb propane canister...

Works great for us..

kitchen

Hi, i have a 17z and do not cook inside. I have a camp everest propane stove, REI or online and a bass pro shop camp kitchen. It's a great way to cook and organize outside and once you do you'll never go back. Good luck.

One nice thing about using a outdoor stove and having it connected to the campers propane supply is that you don't need to replace a 16.4 oz cyl when it runs empty. Or worry about the 16.4 oz cyl leaking when it is unscrewed. I can have a 20 lb bottle refilled for approx. $14.00 which is equal to approx. 20 1lb bottles which cost approx. $3.00 each so that's $60.00 worth of disposable bottles which only help to fill up landfills.

We use something simular to this for all our cooking. Makes for an enjoyable late afternoon outside.

I love my camp chef pro 90. Their griddle is the bomb. I have the grill box also but that only average. I use a lumberjack grate over the campfire for most of our dinners. Coffee is from a keurig

Out side stove

We use the RVQ II grill , mounted on the rail on the trailer. I added 2 more rails to be able to have the grill at a height DW wants when the trailer is higher or lower depending on the site conditions. The mounting kit for the grill moves the grill about a foot off the trailer so the side never even gets warm.

When we started looking at TT's to replace out Fleetwood Arcadia popup, we noticed some had outside hookups too. When we bought our 19RD, we kept the outside stove from the popup, and use it on the TT. We (I) cook only outside also. Grilling gets done on a West Marine boat grill, (which by the way won't light when it's wet outside). I don't know why Wedgewood stopped making them, but I sure wish they'd come back. You can find one on Ebay once in a while, but the good ones fetch big bucks!

Our new travel trailer came with the outside grill and mount. I also have a nice little Coleman Roadtrip grill. For now we'll be leaving the factory grill at home and continue using the Coleman, at least until we're out of the 1lb. LP bottles we stocked up on last season.

We cook outside 99% of the time, have a coleman 2 burner propane stove top that sits on picnic table, this mainly for morning coffee from my ancient coleman 9 cup perculator. Also have small propane grill (cheapo from Menards) that takes up very little space.
Have used 20lb tank with 20' hose, but last couple years been using 1lb cans, know not economical but one will make through about 4-6 days on the stove, kinda funny as I have spare 20lb (full) and also a 30lb (currently empty)

I use a 1960 something Coleman gas 3 burner (also have the 2 burner version) for our outdoor cooking purposes.
