Questions about heater.

So this past weekend was the first that I had to use the heater in my 17z overnight. I was running off my propane tank and a generator.

The heat cut on and ran no problem. The problem was once it cut off, it wouldn't cut back on. I removed the black metal that is under the fridge and there was a reset switch and a light flashing. I reset it and the heat came back on. 20 minutes later, same thing. Finally I left the metal cover off and it worked properly the rest of the time.

Any ideas on what the issue is? I don't want to leave the cover off, or have to worry about it. There wasn't any dust in the cover.

No expert here, but your symptoms are telling me that it is overheating. Either a vent is clogged up or your limit switch is defective.

Agree with Tex. Once the Fire goes out the heater runs to cool the fire box. Apparently
the fan is not running long enough and it is overheated.

I thought I read, that the lights blink in a pattern (code), and you can look in the owner’s manual to determine what that code means.
