sewer hose compartment

I went up to see my new camper ( new to me),the dealer is storing it until the weather breaks. I wanted to take some measurements and take some notes on various things:.I noticed that the storage holder of the sewer hose ( i will need to buy) is in the side above the camper above the drains and is only 26" deep and has a 4" Round hole. This from what I can see is very short ??? I was going to purchase a 15ft hose and it shrinks to 56". and that seems to be the norm. Has anyone else noticed this as being too small ? first time having TT from my PUP and lots of NEw things to learn Any ideas >
I have 2004 Jayfeather 23B
Thanks for your replies

For our 23B I bought a Sewer Solution which we kept in a plastic storage tub that rode in the shower pan until we hit the CG. Slinkys still seem to be the order of the day but I love the SS. When we sold the 23B for the 5th I kept the SS and it still lives in the tub which now travels in the basement.

This was the same in our smaller x20e. The cheap slinky that you use at the dump station would fit, but not the nicer 15' hoses. Some folks have mod'ed a storage tube onto the back bumper.

Do people really need some of these long hoses ? what is the average length. I figured 15 ft would cover most scenarios could smaller lengths be fine. Now I will need to find a use for that compartment if is not usablel

it all depends on where you dump and or camp. I have one that's about 10ft stretched tight and if you pull up to dump and your 4 ft forward or back of center it wont reach. If you stay at a campsite it wont always reach. so I have another that is 2 sections that hook together with ends and caps and I store it in Tupperware container in the basement just in case. Better to have more than not enough always

SS comes in 10' sections. Most places 10' does fine but I need a second in a few CG's but but not the full 20' (yet). I have a total of 30' which allows me to reach the dump at my storage spot. The SS will go uphill a bit if needed and mine has never had a "smell".

The 10' hose that came with our trailer works fine in most situations -- except for one of our favorite campgrounds. Every site is a full-service site, so there's water, power and sewer right there. The sewer outlet is a few feet away from the power pedestal and water tap, so when I line up the trailer so the dump valves are within 10' of the sewer dump, the power and water will be in the way of the trailer's slide. So if I move the trailer over enough so the slide won't hit anything, then the dump valves are too far away from the sewer outlet. Since we go to this campground quite often, I can justify getting a longer hose.

Congrats on the new rig and welcome!!!

Concerning storage, look into a vinyl fence post sleeve mod (5") from Lowes/Home Depot. Mount it to the bumper or underneath like I did. Pics in my signature link.

I secured the fence post sleeve like j did because one of them house a GPL 7' folding ladder. Bought hat about w month before deciding to hug our new trailer which has a ladder!!! Oh well... The GPL still comes in handy around the campsite at times.

As for how long a sewer hose, we usually can get away with 20', but there are time we do not park "normal" either. Camping with friends a lot we sometimes pull into the site when allowed to be awning to awning with them. Still plan to buy another 10' for the just in case!!!
