slide cover

We recently purchased an X23B and was wondering if the slide out for the couch requires a "slide out cover". I've seen mention of covers in other threads but wondered if the short slides need one.

thanks

It's always a good option but not mandatory. We have the same slide on our X20E. If you don't cover it just be conscious of the need to sweep it off before closing it, especially if you camp under trees. I've decided not to put one on mine.

With out one you'll need to carry a ladder long enough to not only look at the roof but long enough to physically clean it off.
I have an awning, push the close button and I'm done! No water to squeegie off either.

Optional.

I'm 6 foot tall. I have a broom, with a head that pivots 90 degrees. I can just reach to clear off the slide out roof without a ladder.

I have a 23F same slide and I thought about the cover but looking at the price I just bought a 8' telescope ladder from Home Depot on sale for about $50 and just clean it off when needed. I also have a 8 and 9 year old kids that love to help with supervision of course but they have helped sweep the slide roof off and love to help push the buttons when asked to ring it or the awning in. Figured I would save the money on the slide cover, plus a few reviews I read said they still got water under their slide cover sometimes so could still end up with water on he floor when you bring the slide in after a strong rain.

When we have to pull in our slides with the covers, I always open them up and allow them to dry when I get home.
If not the mildew flourishes and then a bigger cleaning job is next.

I stand on the ground with a extended brush and keep any stuck leaves from rolling up.

We have always disliked the way ours were factory installed because they will hold water causing us to have to sweep them off or retract them a few inches and allow to drain.

Slide covers don't only keep leaves and debris off the slide out. They also shade it. There isn't a lot of insulation in a slide out. I'm thinking of getting a slide cover.
