Snow on top of the camper

In the past when I owned my pop up, when ever it snowed I would take a broom and push all the snow off the top of the camper.

Now that the new camper is 10 ft tall that isn't possible without a ladder.

Should I worry about snow accumulation on the roof?

Should I cover the vents, and AC unit, and sky lights?

What do you do?

I'm interested in the answer to this as well, as our pop up always got shoveled off & stayed next to our barn in the winter. The hybrid will be stored a the dealer's facility, outdoors.

My Jayco owner’s manual states to remove the snow if it greater than 2 feet thick or if there is 2 inches of ice. How to do it?? Ladder I guess. Or do what I do, and find a farmer’s barn to store it in.

That is a lot of snow around here...sure some of you guys up north have a little more!! How about a wide broom? I have never heard a roof caving in on a well maintained trailer....

Well, I guess I'll be up on a ladder in the snow. Probably not a good idea, but we don't have a lot of barns to store trailers in the city I live in. Also, I can't afford to build a garage for the camper.

I have always cleared the snow. a little snow here and there with the thawing and freezing, toss some rain in the mix with some icing. what is the weight on the roof. with the season we have last year in new england and all the roofs collapsing on buildings. i think it is worth removing the extra weight

Be careful that you don't poke holes in your roof. The rubber roofing material is just slightly thicker than Saran Wrap!!

I have wondered about a tarp that just covers the roof of the unit. That way no snow or ice would get on the roof or seams. Working in the building maint trade I see the effects of freezeing and thawing and water damage all the time. But I lucked out and found indoor storage this year, and it is cheeper than my dealers ouddoor storage.

If the snow is light you can blow it off with a leaf blower.

Anyone ever see a dealer removing snow from the roof of the RV's on the lot? Didn't think so... Just tip the trailer up some so when it melts it will be able to run off...

chuckworkb --I just keep it covered with an offical rv cover that will also protect it when using a snow rake, be sure the rake is plastic and not the aluminum kind. Larry
