Start of the Season Goodies

We purchased our 2013 X23B last year and bought a few essentials (good sewer hose and connectors), but decided to limit buying stuff till we really knew what we needed. So at the start of our second season, I splurged on some new gear.

Last year, I used scrap wood for leveling blocks and pads for the jack and stabilizers
This year, I bought Lynx blocks. Lighter and easier to work with.

Last year, used wood chocks and built a set of between tire chocks
This year, plastic chocks on the wheels and a set of X-Chocks (lighter, easier and more stable)

Last year, moved the dining table outside
This year, bought a table just for the outside to go along

Last year, slept on standard mattress
This year, we have a memory foam topper

Last year, hung awing lights every trip
This year, bought some LEDs to attach to awning (don't have to take down when moving in awning)

Last year, used cheap outdoor carpet for patio mat
This year, bought a nice outdoor mat where sand and rain go through

I also had a plan for mods this year if I have time. I suggest to all new campers to figure out what you need before you buy stuff. We made due with what we had last year.

Also, Amazon offers the best prices around!

That great! I like the idea of the LED's that you don't have to take down.

LEDs that you don't have to take down...Interesting. Where would I find something like this.

Power jack was a first requirement for me (especially with equalizer hitch).
I have been thinking about MaxxAir Vent, but I am going to wait till later this year. Did you install the vent yourself? I am trying to figure out how hard it would be.

I think the MaxxAir Vent is our next install too (I think the MaxxAir II is what we're looking at). I ordered pop up gizmos last week for the bunk ends. Gotta keep that brand new canvas clean!

Knickerbocker - tell me more about the extra table you bought to take along. That might be handy as I like a two table setup when cooking outside. I like to use one as my "kitchen" but don't want one of those camp kitchens.

Does anyone have a stove cover? I looked them last year - a little pricey for me at $60 and wondered if it would be useful to have or not.

We also need to upgrade our sewer hose. My upgrade last year was to buy my husband some nice heavy duty gloves to use when dumping. Ha!

I installed a Maxxair II on my 24FBS. It was very easy.

Here's a video of the Maxxair install

....and since I was only allowed to put 1 video in my last message....

here's the Maxxair II install video. I like the Maxxair II because it's "hinged" design will let me get in there and do some cleaning when needed.

Wow, that's so easy I could do it without waiting around for my husband to do it. The poor guy has a long enough list from me as it is. Except I probably would have an issue reaching the spot on the roof. He's got the advantage of being tall with long arms. Thanks for the video!

No problem! On our 24FBS, the vent is really close to the rear of the trailer. Had I put a little more brain cells to work on it, it would have been much easier for me to install using an extension ladder. I climbed up and had to stretch around the vent to get the nuts and bolts though. It's one of those things where as soon as you climb back down you realize there was an easier way to do it! :hihi:

Yes, I installed the Maxxair II myself and I used the same vids that is posted here. I think it took me about 30 minutes to get the job done. And for those of you who have a 2013 X23B like me and southpaw, there was no problems as far as clearance from vent pipes, etc.. There was plenty of room to spare!

Our X23B is a 2012 and the clearance between the vent pipe and the vent was a bit tight. The cover (Maxxair II) fit but I had to install it slightly off center due to the limited clearance. Works great! We only close the vent when it's really cold outside, so that means it's open 99.99% of the time - in storage too.

Installing the Max air vent was really easy. It took more time to gather the tools and ladder than to do the work.

Two things I highly recommend doing when you put the extension ladder up on the side of the TT. Put the stabilizer jacks down when you are on the roof. Then wrap some old cloth around the ladder uprights where it will touch the TT. I put a small nick in the roofing membrane when setting the ladder against the TT. That roofing membrane is extremely thin.

I agree with you Jagiven about gathering up the tools and ladders, etc!

BTW, I remembered reading your advice earlier about wrapping something around the ladder and I used some towels to lean it up against the trailer.
