Waste Tote carriers

Hello, I have a Z17 and looking to buy a waste tote unit. I am considering Store and Go, they have a special on at around $120 for 15 gal to 22 gal units. Has anyone used there units on a Z17 and what capacity is best, I am considering the 15 gal but also the 22 gal. Thanks in advance for any advice.

John

I could not find a Store and Go on the web, but I am assuming you are talking about something similar to the blue totes. Keep in mind that the waste will weigh roughly 8 lbs per gallon. That means that a full 22 gal unit will weigh about 176 lbs. The 15 gal unit will weigh about 56 lbs less. For me that is the difference between being able to lift it into the back of the truck and needing help to do so.

We bought a 35 gallon tote for our 17Z because we could totally empty either of our tanks without worrying about overfilling the tote.

Our problem came with transporting the thing to and from the campground. We had to keep the tote inside the 17z which was a real chore. It's not that it was heavy, it was that it was awkward.

I believe you are referring to the tote-n-store(google) jepotts. I have one and am very pleased with it so far. I purchased the 25 gallon to make sure it didn't overflow since my tank is 28 gallon. I comes with a removable tow handle that hangs over your hitch ball so you can tow to the dump station. I know that the barker seems to be a popular tote on this forum as well but my dealer didn't sell them.

One thing i have found surprising is that whenever i go to fill it my tote it only feels half full. It's hard to judge when the black tank is really full and i don't want it to overflow. I'm still a nubee.

That's a nice tote tls001. I just checked it on my jayco dealers parts online and its quite pricey $ 365.00. I bought the tote-n-stor because it was also on sale in-store for $ 160.00. I'm sure the barker is probably at lot cheaper across the border.

Good price tls001. I might have bought one for that price as they are better from what i here. Don't know why everthing is so much more up here when our dollar is at par with yours now but thats another topic.

I have 22gal barker I bought second hand from Craiglist. I see them there often, may be worth checking. We couldn't be happier with our tote.

I bought a 15gal Barker off Craigslist for $40.
It works fine for my small 165 Sport.
I seen a couple different sizes on there.

Worth a look on your local site.

The barker might be a little lower profile then my tote-n-store(not sure) which is good for our low riding jayfeathers. I know we have to lean our tote on an angle or it won't drain out of the hose when done filling. Something you might consider jepotts.

Not a bad price. Bought mine (22 gal) from PPL 4 years ago for $105. Fits in the basement of our White Hawk, though it does occupy a fair amount of space since the clearance is too low to store it on its side. No matter, it ain't hangin' off the ladder and when I need it, it's a breeze to use.

I wish these things had soft tires with suspension. They make a lot of noise going down the road hitched up to my truck.

I heard on some forums were people have switch over to air tires but i suppose you'd have to change out the axle.

I put air tires on my barker, there is a write up here on the forum somewhere about it. It's pretty easy and you are right about the noise the hard tires make.

I also switched out the tires and axle for Pneumatic tires. Got the axle stock from the hardware store and the tires from Harborfreight.

Yep, same here. Replaced my hard tires with pneumatics I found at either Menard's or Tractor Supply, can't remember which. You'll have to cut new axles from bar stock and put new caps on the axles to keep the tires on. Takes a little bit of work but the results are well worth it. My 45 gallon Barker hardly makes a noise going across the Oshkosh campground on a 1am stealth dump run the night before we leave. Nothing like driving by the dump stations next morning and feeling sorry for all the RVs lined up for hours on their way out
