Hey everyone, we have the X17Z and everytime we unroll the awning it's wet inside, top and bottom. We try to get out every other weekend and we park next to our house during the week. Is it normal for rain water to get inside the awning like that. We are worried about mold and staining if it sits too long between openings. We have recently had some bad storms in the Chicago area, so maybe it's just been over soaked? Thanks for any ideas you may have.
we live in Georgia and our awning is usually moist when we open it. I believe it is mostly condensation. Prior to going camping we open dry it off and clean if needed. Sometimes we get little stains but with an amonia and water mix in a spray bottle it cleans up nicely.

I believe it's one of those camping mysteries and I've not read of way to stop it. When ours starts to get a bit of a mildew smell we do the cleaning routine in the dometic manual.
1/4 cup dish soap, 1/4 cup bleach, 5 gallons warm water splashed all over the top, roll it up for 5 minutes, unroll and rinse. By rolling it up you get both sides coated. Sometimes it requires two doses.

my electric rolls up in either direction. I try to roll it up so that top of the awning is on the top rather than having a channel the length of the awning. Might want to try if you can.
Here's a cheap solution to the wet (then moldy) awning. I've used this for the past two years when my X17Z is NOT in use (including outside winter storage--in Indiana) and the awning's stayed remarkably dry. This also serves as a pretty good UV block, too.

I only wish there were a convenient way of storing the gutter when it's not in use.

The water is wicking in from the ends. Mine is always wet; usually not a problem unless there are bugs or leaves rolled up inside it--clean it when you get home.
I've heard of people trimming 2 liter pop bottles to stick over the ends but I've not tried this myself.
