What are these?

Subscribing to the theory that the only dumb question is the one you don't ask......

I'm sure I was told at one time but what are these for, there is one by each bed in our x18d

Plug those bad boys in and clip them to your bars over the beds and you now have a light for reading, a fan, or both. I love those things. If you need new ones you can get them from Amazon:

Thanks for this valuable info. I have had the same question for over a year and just didn't ask.

My two FANS with LIGHT didn't last very long for some reason. I ended up getting a O2COOL 10-inch fan from WALMART.

My fans plugged into the closest ceiling light assy...

After looking at them for a while I figured out what they were for in my unit, but I haven't been able to figure out what the rated amperage @ 12V would be. Anybody know? I want to re-purpose them - permanently install a dimmer and some RGB light strips... if nobody knows, I guess I'll start tracing until I find a fuse....

Now that I think for a second... If anybody that has the fan / light combos have a quick look on them, there should be a rating sticker that will tell what amperage they draw - that'll give me a good start anyways....

I have a light that works with those outlets that we got with a popup years ago. We now use it in our X18D, but my wife and I were just talking this weekend that we needed to figure out a better situation to get a fan over the rear bunk both to bring in heat and for white noise when the kids are sleeping. I never realized you could get fans that clip onto the bars like that and use that electric plug! That is exactly what we need.

I remember just a little over a year ago when I was looking to purchase our previously owned Kiwi 17a, I discovered the plug in jacks at either end of the trailer. I asked the previous owner what they were and he didn't know or most likely didn't remember as he hadn't used the trailer in at least 6 years. On our first outing in July last year I noticed that the lights that were in the forward storage drawer had that type of plug and lo and behold, I discovered what they were for. Just part of the newbie RV learning curve.

It's a 1/4" jack - same as used in the music buisness (same as what plugs a guitar into an amplifier etc...) Any local music or electronics store should have them. or digikey.com

you can also replace the light bulbs with LED's cause those bulbs get really hot. One side of the plastic case is slightly melted from just a little use.
