Winter storage

I posted a similar topic before but I need to make a decision. Please be honest. I have the choice between getting a decent cover and storing my x17 Z outside for the winter months for about $35 a month. Or the other option is a simple warehouse for $100 Per month.

It's my first winter with a camper so I don't know what to expect. Would a decent high-end cover be enough? Or would the extra money for storing it inside be worth it?

I live in Colorado by the way.

My 40 foot fifth lives outside no cover. Alberta. Covers can create more issues than they solve. Indoor is great but can be expensive for a big unit. If I could find $100 month indoor I would be all over it.

Our jayco dealer said not to cover, they said it causes more problems than it is worth.
I would store indoors if there was a good price and somewhat near by. I have not found anywhere that is reasonably priced for the 4-5 months that I'd want to store it.
Besides, now we have an extra kitchen, should we have a long power outage.
Made biscuits in the trailer oven yesterday while our regular home oven cooked a turkey.

Edit to say, I'm in Nova Scotia Canada

I'd go indoor if I could find it for $100 in a second.

It would only need storage from mid December to mid March.
For $300 a season, maybe $400, and covers are $300+ and only last a few years I'd go for it.

Ether is fine, If you leave it outside keep the stabilizers up, and tilt the nose up, so any running water has a easy way off the roof.

Personally, I would keep looking for indoor options. I store mine in a guys pull barn. $80 for the entire winter. I choose the day it goes in and comes out.

Lots of farm cats and have never had a mouse issue.

If you can afford the $100/month, that is definitely the best option. Otherwise, I totally disagree with the others. Put a cover on it and protect your investment. A properly sized and installed cover will NOT hurt your rv. It WILL protect it from the UV rays that will fade it out, and protect it from the snow, ice and presents from the birds, while it sits in it's 5-6 month hibernation.
I cover mine every year, and have yet to see any "damage" from the cloth cover.

Ours was outside all winter in our driveway. In the Yukon, lots of extremely cold weather and lots of snow. We would brush snow off it regularly, mainly so that it doesn't get too heavy on the roof. Never had any problems.

We now live in a much warmer climate, where it rains -- rather than snows. But I'm sure it will still be fine stored outside.

I cover our HTT and leave it parked outside. No issues to date. Nice and clean when I pull the cover off in the spring. Just make sure you don't have a lot of loose material flapping in the wind which is what causes issues.

If you can afford it, stow it indoors. That will preserve it best.
Next is outdoors with a cover.
Leaving it exposed to the elements (especially freeze/thaw cycles) will allow the most winter damage.

Because I need to use my barn/shop, the trailer stays outside, under a cover for the winter.

+1 for covering the unit. Years ago most people used to cover their RV's with tarps. That could definitely cause damage, as any water will not evaporate easily allowing for water to stay trapped between the cover & the unit possibly leading to seepage and rot.
However, with new breathable materials, RV covers actually protect the unit from the elements while allowing for any trapped moisture to evaporate from the underside. We keep our unit under a tarp "garage" in the spring/summer/fall and under a Adco cover from Nov-March.
It is nice know that our unit's rubber roof is not exposed to the sun's UV rays when we are storing it.
