X17a tire pressure

I recently purchased a X17a equipped with ST185180D13 tires. When received from the dealership the tires were inflated to slightly less than 55psi. The sidewall of the tire lists the maximum pressure as 65psi. The placard on the trailer recommends inflation to 65psi. To date we have taken 3 trips with the tires inflated at 55psi and the trailer has handled well. Wondering if I should increase the pressure to 65 or leave it where it is. Do other owners keep the tires inflated to 65 psi or a lower pressure?

Thanks.

X17a tire pressure

Max pressure is what you need to use.

X17a tire pressure

I learned that the tire pressure amount on the placard of the vehicle/trailer is what you are to keep the tire pressure at. The tire pressure labeled on a tire is the maximum amount that the tire can handle safely.

Granted, my trailer is a bit bigger than yours, but I took my first trip with the tires each at least 15 lbs low (65 lbs max and suggested) and towing was miserable. On the way home I was thinking about selling my truck and getting a bigger one (which maybe I should have done in the first place). Once I discovered the tire pressure was so low, I filled them up to max and voila! It's like a completely different trailer. Truck tows just fine and all is well. That was the LAST time I will ever leave the driveway without checking and topping off the tires.

Remember that with your tires at lower pressures, they create more friction and thus more heat, and heat and friction destroy tires.

So, needless to say IMO, fill 'em up!
