X17Z - 30A cable question

Hey all! I have just ordered my first Jayco, an X17Z, but have yet to take delivery.
Here's a silly question, how long is the 30A cable?
I have been looking at reserving a spot at an Ontario Provincial Park and in their site description they show how far away the hydro hookup is. If I knew the length it would help me decide on a site.

Typically they are supposed to be 25' but there is a disclaimer in the owners manual that says something about "length may vary". The one on my old '93 1208 PUP was only 15 ft, the one on our old '03 Kiwi 17a was 25', the one on our X20E is about 21'.

Thanks DocBrown. It looks like I will need to take an extension since the site with the closest hookup appears to be 12m or about 36'

Wow 36' is quite a run. I never needed the extension while camping in our 23B but needed it to get to a 20A outlet at the house. I discovered that I could run the A/C from a 20A circuit but not a 15A. One of the first outings I did need longer water and sewer hoses.

Surprisingly that is the shortest run.
We stayed there a few years back and our site had a 60' run.
The park is Arrowhead Provincial Park in Huntsville, Ontario.
It's a fantastic park and there is plenty of space between spots. Lots of trees and privacy.
They put the power stacks in between the sites. You just need to hike into the woods a little to find them ;-)

Some of the state parks in WI used to do crazy stuff like that, sharing a power pedestal between 2 sites that were 100' apart. Because of that when I had my PUP I bought a 100' extension cord. That was fine on 20 amp. Fortunately they have upgraded the facilities in the WI state parks to put a pedestal at each site that has elec.

I just measured our recently purchased 2009 23J and it is 23' ft long. I have another 25 ft 30A cord that we will take with us as Prov Park camping are also our common trips.

It also depends on where the cord is set up on your TT...if it's near the front, the middle or the rear, that could also have an impact on the "do I need an extension cord"

On my previous TT it was in the middle, often my 25' extension was very useful



I could run my AC out my home 15A circuit IF nothing else was running on that circuit and if the TT power converter wasn't kicking in to recharge the battery!

Thanks all.
I used to own a 31' Royal Classic class C and we would take along whatever we wanted.
For the next couple of years we are doing it small with the new17Z behind my Saturn Vue. As such, every time I think about what to bring I also think "how much does that weigh?". I think I'll wait 'till I get the new unit in my driveway, see how much weight we will be loading then decide if a 25' 30A cord is viable to pack inside my SUV.

Marinco is very consistent and if the label says 25', then it's going to be 25'. with Camco and some of the other cheapies, I don't know. With 30A you are OK with 50' of power cable. A main cackle and one extension should take care of wherever you are going to camp.

We only camp in provincial parks because of the large and mostly private sites. It's not uncommon to find outlets that are 30 meters (90 ft) since they are a shared post with another campsite. Our trailer came with a 27 ft cored so we purchased a 50 ft and a 25 ft extention cord that covers us for any campsite. Many provincial parks will loan out an extention cord for a small deposit but they only have so many. I don't want to be limited to a certain campsite because on my cord length.
